I put it in, go to vcr mode and press play, but it doesn't seem to progress the tape any and the time code doesn't change from 00000000. what am I doing wrong?
The cleaner tape is playing just fine. There isn't any TC on the cleaner tapes. You can double check by taking a look in the little window to see if the tape reel is actually moving.
