Anyone have sports footage samples from their DVX?

I am looking to buy a DVX100 (first generation) this summer and will be shooting mostly football for my annual football highlight video. I would like to see some footage from users that have filmed sports to get an idea of the look I will capture.

Thanks ahead of time! Let me know what frame rate you captured it in, and if the footage has been visually edited also. Thanks!

My sister needed a soccer video to send to colleges so I filmed a few games and made a 3-4 minute highlight reel using the DVX..

i thought the footage was a little long and boring but perfect for coaches to watch, so i wanted to make a short version... so here is that too:

As always, Youtube ruins DVX footage but it is what it is. Enjoy.

The stock lens probably won't get you in close to the action, which is fine if you are just going for a wider shot that shows everything happening. But if you're looking for close-ups you'll need a telephoto lens... the downside is you have to remove the telephoto lens to be able to zoom all the way out due to the vignetting.

Thanks! Anyone have football clips by any chance?

The Volleyball one was soo crisp!

What kind of zoom are we talking about for a DVX, filmguy123?

Give me a few days to get some stuff digitized. I've done a couple highlight videos for my old high school's football team, just don't have any of it on my cpu right now.

I have some rugby games, but they're pretty sloppy considering how I'm the only person with a camera and need to cover the entire field. The DVX only has something like a 10x zoom, which is not that great if you are standing on the opposite side of football field, but it doesn't suck or anything.

The DVX has just a 10x optical zoom not the most ideal for sports if shooting far away but can still get the job done for sure! I shot some drag racing stuff with mine last week it turned out great not that I consider that a sport just thought I would share.

Well you need to look at the 35mm equiv in the specs for the DVX. I know for the hvx200 its about 423mm and I think the DVX is pretty similiar. You'd probably want something more like 800mm if you were to stand on the sidelines and shoot the highlights like they do for the news (which IMO is far better and more interesting for a highlight video). Which would mean you'd want at least the 1.6x tele-converter, probably a 2x. The downside is, is now you are locked into being at a focal range of 400mm-ish minimum (zooming out past that with the teleconverter on causes vignetting). If you don't mind switching back and forth if you want wide shots or physically close sideline footage you won't have a problem. There's not a whole lot of other options.

Personally I think a Canon XL2 would be better for this as its shoulder mounted and it has a 20x optical zoom as opposed to the DVX's 10x(?)... just makes it easier.
