I only had one week to do write, film, and make this happen. It was for a private competition. I think it turned out quite good, except for a couple of little things. I'd love feedback.

It's here:

just scroll down, and it's called "The End of a Relationship".

We're also doing a doc on our lives as hobos. This video, like all of ours, was edited in our home -- a 1973 Winnebago (and random coffee shops). See our site.

Thanks everyone.

loved it.
Really cute movie.
But something was lacking in the end. I felt there could have been more relationship between them somehow.

you mean between the sock and dryer??? or the guy and sock?
between the guy and the sock
because he really loved the sock and in the end he just leaves it there disrespectfully
I think he should have taken it and burried it with a ceremony, and then something funny can happen there

like maybe he burries the sock in an indian grave yard and then the sock comes to life and starts bossing him around...(carried away... sorry)

For a sock and man relationship movie it wasnt bad. Music wasnt so great. At 2.10 you zoomed on the dryer at which point there was no significance in pointing the dryer out. When he used the dryer I thought Ok maybe there was a point, but no just that was the dryer he was going to use.

Liked the dancing sock in dryer and shots you created for within the dryer. That last little flick in the dryer was good also. Finished it off.

Could have probably been 2 mins for the same story. Couple of continuity issues. But a nice little piece about man and sock.

indian grave...that's funny. we actually had an indian grave booked for that day, but somebody else was already filming a sock there coming from a grave or something, so the laundromat was a last ditch effort.
i thought about adding some sound at the beginning where he's holding the sock up to his face. Sound effects of a little league baseball game kind of thing. Should I??? Might build more relationship between guy/sock...
As far as the music goes... i originally had something more climactic in mind. I didn't hear it until the night before when we HAD to lay it. I actually think it works PERFECT. I went a little bit further with the effects and I think the subtle, heartwarming soundtrack fits beautifully. It turned out to be my favorite part. (Composed by: Dave Holden) You might have to watch it a second time...

that was cool. how did you get the shot inside the dryer as it was going? also how did you get the animated sock when the light comes out of the dryer and at the very end when he leaves it? did you greenscreen or use cg?

sorry, yeah the website will be up tonight. thanks. you can go here for now if you'd like:

there's two shots from the inside of the dryer. the first one i simply gaff taped the camera inside the dryer, gave the dryer a good spin, closed the door, and held my breathe. the second one was composited. The dryer is a stunt dryer that i got for free on craigslist that night and i tore it apart. I then green screened the sock to match the movement of the dryer (I think I have a picture...). The sock was greenscreened and composited with no cg. My compositor's name is Dave Sliviak and he's a genious.
