This is a pretty good way to get slowmotion footage out of your DVX but I did a little testing. See, I've got a method that's a little bit more complicated and takes a lot longer but yields better results. Check out these two screengrabs. The first one is from my method and the second one is from your method.
The results are pretty telling. The motion fort the two is identical, but my method saves resolution and eliminates that flicker at the edge of the frame. I did make a post about it a little while ago but I never searched for slow motion so it didn't get a lot of views. Anyway, here's the post.
I think you did a great thing here and I'm not trying to downplay it, I'm just presenting another option.
P.S. The screengrabs in this post are from my DVX and the video was from an XL2.

I've got a PDF that I made up that I encourage everyone to read if they feel like it and there's also a sample clip I've uploaded so you can see if for yourself.
Here's the PDF.

Have fun...
P.S. I shot the footage on my XL2 at a shutter speed of 1/15000 which is why you can see the wings on the fly at the end there if you advance it frame by frame. I opted to go with the XL for this test because of that feature, but I still love my DVX so don't worry.
