So whilst at NAB this year I cruised a lot of audio booths and it was interesting.
First up: The Manfrotto booth to check out the new Gitzo poles. You were right Matt! They've come out with a new 12' carbon fiber pole with new collars and also upgraded carbon material and only raised the price $30. Damn. As soon as my wallet recovers, I'm buying that.
Sound Devices: Cool booth! Big and lonely. I was only one of two people there, for like four employees (maybe it was just the time I visited). But the sales guy was cool and showed me all the stuff. At the end I scored a sweet Sound Devices t-shirt
K-Tek: I went up and immediately told them how much I loved them and immediately scored a free hat
. They told me they had upgraded their KZep since I bought it and that I should email them to get the upgraded part (cool). I then told them they need to make their own BBG. I told them that DVXUser turned me on to their product. The girls seemed really delighted to hear all this.
Countryman: I walked up and asked to see the B6 and got a full side by side demo of a B3, B6 and EMW! It was all wired up to a nice mixer board and a pair of 7506s. I then noticed the name tag and the guy's last name was Countryman. It was the owner's son! I told him how much DVXUser sang their praises, he liked it (didn't seem like he knew the site).
I saw Rycote but passed. Great products at 3x the price they should be selling them for. Boo!
