Uprezzing 720p To 1080p

1) I want 1080p. I have been shooting 720p. Can I uprez to 1080p? If so, how?

2) How come the HVX doesn't do 1080p? Is it because of the amount of gigs on the p2 cards?

I'm stumped.

1) best results will come from upresing with something like an Aja Kona card. your NLE could do the scaling but the results won't be as clean.

2) ??? I'm stumped too because the HVX does do 1080/24p.

Can someone please tell me how it does 1080p? I know it does 1080i, but how does it do 1080p? Barry didn't mention 1080p in bootcamp. There was only ever a debate over 720p vs 1080i.

It can record and playback 1080i, but not 1080p. However if you shoot 1080i @ 24p or 24pa and later remove pulldown you have 1080p.

This has been covered a bazillion times -- the HVX stores a progressive image in an interlaced video stream because that's the only format that existed for the longest time. Even though the format is 1080i, both fields were captured and processed by the camera at the same point in time, and there are no interlacing artifacts.

variable framerates are only available in 720p mode. and the real-world resolution of the camera caps out around 800 lines. so some don't see it as taking a major hit in image quality and welcome the significantly reduced file sizes. i thought you said you went to an hvx bootcamp?

Before I went to HVX boot camp I had never even used a camera of any kind before in my entire life. Give me a break.

you got a break Phil.

YEa im debating never shooting 720 again. the 1080p just looks TOOOO good.
