as the title says what is the cheapest cam for shooting in true 24p ? not the best, doesnt have to have all the bells and whistles, as i like to tweak via software but would like to shoot in 24p thanks.
what is the cheapest mini dV cam for 24p

If you want a 24p miniDV cam, the cheapest is the DVX100. The HV20 doesn't do 24p in miniDV, only in HDV.

did you mean it cant do 24p in standard definition... well that is true

It has genuine 24p, and it is available only when shooting widescreen because it's only available when shooting high-def.
Yes it records to miniDV tape, and yes it's also a miniDV camcorder. But if you want something that records in the miniDV format and does 24p, the HV20 isn't it. It records in the miniDV format, but only as 60i. It records 24p, but only in the HDV format.

Yes, it can even downconvert on the fly so you could capture your footage as DV instead of as HDV.

brilliant, now all i have to do is not eat, or pay any bills for a while.. and buy this bad boy 
but just one more question since i am in australia, is will be the 50i and 25p model, will the 25p look just as good as 24p ?? ( still have the film look ? ) and when putting 25p on a timeline can it just be put on any PAL 25 frame time line ? or must it be a specific 25'P' timeline to keep it pregresive ?? becuase i dont think premier pro 2 has a '25P' timeline but it does hav a pal 25 frame rate time line ( 50i i think ) is this right ? someone correct me.... but thanks to all for their advice and i WILL be getting this camera. also my computer ( strictly for video editing is as follows:
AMD 62 X2 dual core 3800
512mb nvidia 5300 GT
2 gig RAM
raid 0 500gig HD ( 2 x 250 )
100gig 10k rpm HD
..is this ok for editing HDV ??? )
