preferable external Hard-Drive: firewire 800 or eSata external?

Just looking for an external hard-drive solution for editing DNxHD. I can get a PCI card that offers an external eSata connection, or one that offers firewire 800. I believe eSATA is 3gb/s and firewire 800 is 786.432 Mbit/s. As I've never quite wrapped my head around the mbits vs. mbytes, just want to be sure that eSATA really is FASTER than firewire 800 (and therefore a preferable external H-D solution).

Hey Sean,

You'll be more than fine using a firewire 800 with DNxHD as the highest bitrate offered on those codecs is 220Mbs when firewire has a sustained transfer rate of ~786Mbs. If you think you might ever need to work with uncompressed HD, then I'd say a 3Gbit (3000Mbs) workflow is a must. Get the 1.5Tb Maxtor turbo II it has firewire 800 with massive storage. just ordered it.
Good luck!
