So I'm trying to get a little company together to do Music Vids really,
I made a showreel (http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=91146) and i'm throwing it in windows and doorsteps around town.
Anyway I got a "job" interview of sorts to film an island in seychelles for an architect, (not a music video but it meant travel) and I was freaking a little because im 23, i have a mo-hawk and not a film student... i decide i dont want to look cheap and too indie, so i think of beefing up the appearance of my DVX instead of me, i read that a lot of ppl think a MatteBox does some beef-ing. So I built one 3 weeks ago on a saturday in about 5-6 hrs incl. shopping at a stationary shop only!!!
well, it must have worked, i got the job- it was definitely not based on my looks :) (love the DVX you beauty!)

here is my $9 DIY matte box, and some pics of me on the island.
I am editing a small clip right now as i type, to show them what i have in mind.. will post screen grabs in this thread too and then the clip if its worth it.

Is it possible you can shw how you built that matte box there it looks pretty beefy.. I like it!
 
Nice, and congrats on the gig. I'd love to fing a job that had me traveling more...

what was the pay, by the way? how much work was involved? how long was the trip?

I've been thinking about trying my luck with Hotel/Resort chains in the near future, but wanna make sure it's worth it...

but.... flight, food, drink, accom, all paid for and seeing as tho' is was at a private island with the likes of Bono, Dave Gilmore, Anna Kornikova staying there at 6000 Euro P/P per night- i took the deal. :) shame on me.

Vicnewton- i dont mind to tell ya at all, it was sh*t easy really. If others are keen then i dont mind taking pics of the process or materials- otherwise i'll just type the basic process.

Timur, just checked your site. u got way more work than me! and i liked your stuff alot - very similar dark stlye to me (ow with exception to this exact thread-hehehe)
your editing effects are real tight, nice! might pop a FAQ to u sometime if u dont mind.
 
Your graphics treatment/titles are great. Obviously you have a keen sense of design (I know you have an architecture bkgnd, no?). It shows. I assume the sketching part will be cutdown some, but I think this looks like a great direction so far. Looking forward to more.
 
you on the money bionix, the sketching is way too long for me-been busy on more today will update in time-but dont think i'll post it: not many people have given feedback on this thread-so if u want i'll PM you the link
