Short Film "Geocaching"

This is just a short little film I did for a film challenge.
Shot with the stock HVX lens and a scene file I'm still working on getting nice saturated colors. Not sure what was up with Compressor but I had to use a preset because my usual settings weren't working.

Anyway, here it is: Geocaching

I like the colors a lot. Nice warm feel. Time lapse skys and the water scenes were gorgeous...did you use a polarizer? Great shot of the deer and the kingfisher.

So are you going to share your scene file settings?

Hey Bob,

No filters, I just put my mattebox on for the first time in months this morning.

I was in the middle of framing up a shot when the deer came bounding out of the woods, I think they were pretty shocked when I moved. :) So, I spun the camera around and got them as they were headed back into the woods. A few hung back to check out what I was then they slowly disappeared into the woods.

I'm still working on the scene file I used. once I get it where I think I can't improve on it anymore, I'll post it

Actually Bob, he stayed put. He actually flew to a branch much closer than the one I ended up using. The only reason I left was the sun had pretty much set although it doesn't look like it in the shot and it was getting dark and I had a ways to go before I got back to my car.

I talked to the director of the nature center the next day and he said that there are kingfishers all over that creek and they aren't scared off very easily.

If the wind ever dies down here, I'd like to go back and try to get some more footage of them.

That game sounds really cool. Is it you in the picture? I like the woods and tree scapes most. The kingfisher too, and the deers. I didn't really get a feel for the geo thing at all through the montage. I think the music doesn't help, it screams video. What's your' frame rate? Curious to know what nature photographers are using. Thanks for sharing. Let's see those kingfishers for real dog!

Hey Dog,

Yeah, it's hard to get all what geocaching is about in a three minute time limit. :)
The frame rates were 24fps or 60fps. I pretty much always try to shoot 60fps for wildlife.

Hey Phoenix,

Wow, what can I say? Never had anyone join a forum just to say they liked my work.

There's allot of talent on this forum, people that can shoot circles around me. Explore and you'll find all kinds of incredible footage.

The people here are also very willing to lend a hand and help you achieve your own goals and dreams.

Welcome to the forum and I'll shoot you a PM to some of my other footage.

Definitely am digging the details on the sunlight on the water and the trees. The detail on the branches is amazing. Great music too! (ha ha)

Brian

Thanks Brian, It took me pretty much all day to get all the filming done as there were so many beautiful scenes along the trail.
So many people use the trail every year but very few actually stop and take it in.

I probably filled two or three 4Gig cards just on the sunlight dancing on the water. Shot it both in 720 24fps and 60fps. 1080 and with different white balances. So i Have cool versions and warm versions.

And now we're ion a winter storm advisory and we're expecting several inches of snow. What's up with that? :)
