Any good color correctors out there interested in color correcting job?

I'm in the South Bay area, California. Would like some basic color correction and clean up for our feature film.

Shot on DVX100a, cut on PPRO.

Would like to see some samples and possibly a resume of prior work. We don't have a large budget, but can scrape up what is needed for the work we need done.

It not in stores yet. We received 5 offers to distribute straight to video, (BB & Netflix) but the film is going thru another re edit and an original score will be added, in addition to the original music already in the flic. Also, we'd like to color correct a few more scenes. Simply to polish it up a bit more before it goes back out in the world for more theatrical release rejections, then we will lay to rest in the lost world of Indy DVD rentals in Block Buster and Netflix. It should be out by late summer 08.

The entire film was shot on the DVX100a. Just goes to show, it doesn't matter what camera you shoot on, (film or dv) it's the story and not the media which makes a film work.

darryl, how does one go about getting a deal with blockbuster? i don't need any specifics about your offer, but i'm just curious how one contacts them. do you go though an agency or is there a way to talk to them directly. any info will be greatly appreciated.
 
Many of the small distributors out there can get you into Block Buster. You can Google or look them up in the IMDb. Send them a screener, and if they think they can make money off of your hard work... they'll bite. But don't be fooled, just cause you get your flick into BB or Netflix doesn't mean you'll make any money. Most of the deals are geared for the distributor to make a cut off the top, and what ever is left over goes to you, which is always next to nothing... unless your video gets rented by 1,000,000 people... but without any proper advertisement, nobody will even know your movie exists.... I tell you one thing, my next movie will have a B or an old A list star in it so that it will get more attention from distributors.

It doesn't matter how good your film is, if there are no stars in it, nobody cares. That's a fact. Only .0001 of films make it without stars ie: Napolean or Clerks.... the only films that don't have starz in them that might get a BB deal are horror and comedy films with a lot of big tits in them... oh, and put large tits on the box cover... that way the kids will rent it! It's a sad business for true filmmakers these days that can't afford a celebrity in their work. No Star, no deal.

I'm still holding out for a short run theatrical..... until I face the grim reaper of motion picture death by sending my baby off to BB for it's final resting place.
 
i thought it was good, but i think was some cinematic color correction, it would add A LOT to your film. Props though, it looks like it will turn out!
 
Thanks Miller, yeah, I'm scraping some money together to finish it up. Pro color and a sound job, and of course a nip here and a tuck there... looking forward to finishing this 3 year project.
It turns out that making a completed feature film simply isn't enough for distribs... you have to "really finish it" ie: cc, sound job and a shiney new dvd art work to catch their eyes.

I see Beth Ammann had a role in your film. She was the female lead in my feature, Messages, a few years back, before she moved to L.A. It's always nice to be looking over the credits of a new film and see the name of someone I worked with.

Looks like you've got a nice film there. Good luck with distribution!
 
Thanks, Elizabeth was fantastic... she played a junkie and was great to work with. You can see a brief image of her in the trailer... a quick shot of a girl with stringy hair and a black eye... very convincing.

Our film is going thru a final edit, color and sound before it ends up at BB & Netflix in 08. Worked very hard getting a short run theatrical release, however, a film with no "A" listers in it is a very tough sale to nervous distributors, no matter how great your film is.
