The obvious answer is the right answer. Starts with an L.mrWr0ng said:Why are people concerned about the lack of sync sound? Before the video camera came along we had slates and audio recorders. Recording a backup stream to P2 and then pulling the footage in and syncing it up with the Hydra footage wouldn't be a problem at all, especially if you're using a slate and marking everything properly.

And while you have the HVX open can you put a switch in to flip the image (180 degrees) for us Redrock M2 users?
I'd pay for that option.

Digital age has given too much to the independent filmmaker. A lot of 'em already expect it to magically light the scene right out of the box. Soon, they'll want the camera to file taxes.

Filmmakers don't get "too much" from the digital age! They get what they can. It has nothing to do with laziness; it has to do with automating as many tasks as possible to keep the crew and time down, which also keeps costs down.
Lighting is a completely different ballgame, and I agree there are some people who expect digital to work without proper lighting, at this point they ARE discarding part of the craft of filmmaking. But there's no ART to syncing audio. Lighting IS an art.
The idea with better tools is to reduce redundant and unnecessary tasks.
Are you telling me we should ditch all computers because it GIVES writers too much! They should all be writing on pen and paper just like WE used to do!!! They're LAZY!!!! How dare they rid themselves of bad handwriting and re-writing due to formatting issues. Those lazy bastards!
Juan, my question was lost in the many. :dankk2:in advance.Christopher Barry said:Juan, I am curious what the approximate data rate would be if you include a 10bit log record LUT during capture? I am assessing storage requirements and options for a feature length production...
