grainy pics from hvx?

You really have to work the camera and thats means you have to understand the camera yourself, I've had noisy shots but they are in the minorty, 98%of my footage the noise is not a problem, it is present but not an issue. To summarise, it can be a noisy camera but if you know how to use it and how to setup the scene the noise can be minimised. Im certain that noisy shots are my fault not the cameras and Im pretty certain the same goes for the threads you have posted. Nobody here has ever comnplained that the noise problem is random and comes and goes of its own accord. Therefore the guys that are saying that, are probably doing something wrong. For all we know they might not know how to turn the camera on.

DVCproHD is a noisy codec and the 1/3" chips enhance it. You can press the blacks, up the coring, stay away from CineD, lower the pedestal, etc. to mask the noise. Part of what you pay for the pleasing gamma/colors is increased noise.

Damn good response straight-shooters!
I needed to know it wasn't a common intermittent problem with the hvx itself.

yea,

Mark Harris, Wrote, Directed, acted and edited. so no its not my film, lol. its his film.

This film is very inspired by a french short film called "Fahrenheit" directed by P.Anquetil .... And the frenchshort film is more beautiful.

but from what i get from the web site, farenheit looks mostly inspired by every Noir film from the last 60 years.

Like "katrina" too....

What I was talking is : Framings and the setting in scene are very resembling the beginning of film and also in the scene of the restaurant…

That does not remove anything with the Katrina film ! And I would like to say that Katrina seem to be a very good film.

Hey guys, I really don't mean to thread hijack here - or seem like to big of a newb... BUT does anybody who has experience with the xha1 and hvx200 have any feedback on the two in low level light? Based on Barry's shootout, it looks like the hvx is so much brighter... perhaps that makes the xha1 better for night shooting and underwater?? I may be way off, but couldn't find any xha1 forums here. thanks!

For the record, I have never seen Fahrenheit, though now I would really like to.

KATRINA came from one scene in an old Fritz Lang noir called "Woman in the Window," with EG Robinson. It doesn't even exist on DVD. I had actually taken that scene and written an entire - very different - feature around it over a year ago. Then, not happy with that, I shelved it and then used the same scene as a jumping off point for KATRINA.

I think noise comes quicker on the HVX and much quicker if you are in CineD. If you use coring to cover up the noise, the A1 will look sharper than the HVX.

In my opinion, with the proper custom settings the A1 is definitely better in low light than the HVX but it should be noted that, even then, it is marginal in low light. Sony cameras are best in low light but you lose other things... every camera is DIFFERENT, not BETTER. If you need a low light camera, you should not be considering the HVX and probably looking past the A1...

Like the original DVX-100 then came the a version now the b.....always wait til the second generation comes out. They are close....when the rebates start stirring that's a good indicator.

I put my HVX in Cine V and pumped up the Detail Coring and WOW , THERES THE HD I was Looking for, NICE! Noise GONE!
