BT-LH1700W too green?

That would be great Matt, will wait to hear some feedback. Alternative is the BT-LH2600, though not true 1080, yet has pixel-to-pixel mode and waveform, the later a nice feature for during a shoot. Can use the two HVX zebras instead though.

Is HVX 1080pA24 component output as 1080 60i format? Still confused if the JVC will display various HVX component output. Taking your HVX into NAB by chance (with component cable)? :D

Lenny, I took a look at the monitor today and I could not find any color settings in the "deeper menus." Can you tell us specifically how you did it?

Thanks "berkanostrak", saved me from opening up the beast.

Let me know if this helps you guys. Panasonic really ought to have their quality control together on this you'd think.

It seems the green is just inherent but I think using both a BTH1700 for critical focus at or near the end of the lense in 1080/24p and the trusty Sony 8045Q for color and exposure checks is a decent solution. The 9 rca jack mechanical switcher is a good idea for a/b component comparison. I still rent the BTH when I need to but I'm hoping Panny will announce a newer model soon with a/b switching and normal phase reproduction. Then it would be worth the purchase.

In my experience the greenish cast is regardless of camera. I saw it with an hvx-200 and also with an f-900 /3. I'll be stuck using it on a shoot this weekend with the hdx-900 so we will see; but I fully expect more green. For future shoots I'll never rent this monitor again.

maybe it is the component inputs- Sony f900/3 uses component as does HVX200. I have noticed a "greeen cast" in the hvx200 as well as green in monitor- but maybe it is really an issue of component input- i recently had a varicam (sdi input) dvx100a (video in) and hvx200 (component) all pluged in at once into my 17" and only hvx had a greenish cast. so, camera, right? well, maybe the component in on monitor....... I will investigate more.....

So, maybe the solution is to use a HDI component to SDI converter?

Before getting to bent out of shape about the "green " problem - has anyone here tried the color adjustments I suggested. My monitor looks great since I did that. It would be interesting to hear others experience.

I tryed to match the "Panasonic 17" with our actual production ctr monitor; i am shooting a serial in Betacam. I got close, very close but have a difference: the ctr is brighter than the lcd and i cannot adjust our 2 cameras without playing a/b on the ctr, the difference is something like a hair-thick on the diaph ring... Out of that the director was happy for the definition, the render of the high ligthes, details in the shadows... My gafer too was happy : not bad ! I use it for now 15 days and i like it , great as you say. If you ever wish i can send you the levels of the adjustements. Best regards. Colin.

Phase25,Chrom40,Brigth27,Contrast38. high Red49, highGreen15, high Bleu39; low Red 55, low Green 15, low Bleu39. But i was matching our Ctr which may hv some "artistic" settings! And i forget to say that i still have a faint green on the blacks as if the glass protecting the screen has a greenish flare. Best..

Thanks for the info Berk, I'll keep those settings available for when I may buy or rent the Panasonic 1700/2600 after NAB.

I am considering purchasing the Panasonic BT-LH2600 or the JVC DT-V24L1DU. Some comparative observed specifications:

BT-LH2600
Pro: has Waveform monitoring
Con: not full screen 1:1 1080 display (though has LT/RT/LB/RB/Centre modes for 1:1 display)

DT-V24L1DU
Pro: has 1:1 display of 1080
Con: no Waveform monitoring (from what I have read)

Anyone have any experience, comments or advise with regards choosing one of these monitors for combined use as an on location DP's/Director's monitor and post production NLE/grading/mastering monitor? Thanks.

The waveform in the Panny is a tremendous advantage as a separate waveform monitor is very expensive. Trumps other concerns for me easily.

Agree with you Leni. I constantly (mostly) use the waveform monitor in DV Rack, and consider the WfM an excellent option to have in the LH2600.

I have not come across anyone who has reported on the JVC, so after NAB, it would be good to hear some feedback, if anyone gets a chance to take a look at it over at the JVC area. I can almost always use DV Rack if I need WfM, yet more equipment to manage. Thanks for sharing your point of view.
