I was running all electricity out of a hotel room that didnt know we were shooting there. We had to sneak up a 6 light Arri fresnel kit, 2 4'4bank kenos, 4 c stands, camera, and all sorts of stuff, without being noticed :-) I was barely able to expose the images. these have not been color corrected, I basically copied the screen, pasted in photoshop and cut out the frame, hence the very low quality. Just something to take a look at if your bored.

Vahe

Yeah looking forward to the video. You didn't use location releases? That's living on the edge.

The grabs look promising, but this Crack`nBitchesPlayerShi-at is sooooooooooo boring it´s not even funny anymore...
My 2c of course...

People say that the whole girl in thong, shaking her ass, thugs with bling in hip hop videos has been done and done to the point of overkill, and I don't disagree, but people (artist and directors) keep coming back to it because it is an easy sell. The only hip hop video I saw with a interesting story line was both from Kanye West - Jesus Walks and the Diamonds are Forever video, but again to keep in the main stream and current he did the whole exploitive thing with the Gold digger video. Directors like Hype Williams and Little X have started and built their careers out of making exploitive hip hop videos. They designed the blue print of how to get into directing hip hop videos, and the blue print is ho's, cars and blings, so alot of up and coming young directors assume that they have to do the same thing to get into the buss. So sadly, like it or not, ho's, bitches and bling are here to stay. With that being said, creativeye your pics look promising but if you could have incorporated the whole hip hop lifestyle in a new way, instead of the same old same old, your video would defiantly stand out more.

derivative works are the bread and butter of mainstream entertainment... unfortunately. you have to put up with 100 knock-offs before someone with half an imagination comes along.

Dont forget "99 Problems".... that was AMAZING.

I shot a video similar, with some porn star, early in my DP career. But only 25% of the footage i shot on the production day, wound up being the footage that was used in the Video. 75% was reshot by the Editor, on the street and in a different location. so it has a different look. Yu can tell the stuff i shot cause it looks like a "MTV" Music video.

Ehh its ok. if youre interested, on youtube look up "G fella My Video"

All i can say is, I LOVE shooting these videos. Good work man. keep it underground. i wanna see the finihsed product.

Your right Zak, there will be 100 knock offs before something new begins to happen, that in itself is the evolution of the film industry. Take Leone for example, before him you had the same old same old westerns, and before you know it, in walks an Italian director with a western theme in his mind but is able to creatlivly show it in a new light, and what does he do? He completely changes the whole western genera. That's what i was suggesting Creativeye to do. Have the same hip hop elements in his videos but try to show it in a new creative way.

manymoosh, i dont direct. I just listen to the directors vision and try to replicate it to the best of my ability. this director wanted hot hoes, a lot of sloppy camera work, and alotta of push ins and push outs by zooming and not by dolly. This is what he wanted, even though I tried to talk him out of it, he still wanted it. so i delivered. sorry if your displeased, maybe i can please you with my next video.

Ya Kholi just some screenshots of something I shot about 6 months ago. the project still isnt completed. :-(

I think Manymoosh is right in saying the potential of the genre has jet to be exploited artistically. Leone was a great example of flipping the formula. But how can you really change the attitude of the dealer/pimp gangsta mc that just wants to show basic territorial domination? These people do live fast and die young. They generally are under educated, and it's not surprising that in their spare time just want to hang out with ho's, bags of coke, trying to forget the dangers of the streets. And from Creativeye's point of view, he had little say in the matter. He probably could have made the vid better, but it just goes to show how adamant the directers are in keeping to the sloppy/superficial reality of it. I think the opportunity to work on trashier stuff can be great. Good for you, and you shouldn't be trying to please anyone on this forum. Let's see some rolling images of your porn starlets.
