Where to rent a steadycam in NYC?

Yeah, I not a Y.

Unless you are an experienced Steadicam operator, I'd recomend hiring a professional operator with their equipment if your shoot is of any value. You will get much much better results.
The "official" list of NY operators is here: http://www.steadicam-ops.com/database/soaListName.php?recordID=New%20York
I could personally recomend about half a dozen operators on that list.

Afton Grant is a DVXuser member (who also appears on the above mentioned list) and Steadicam Operator in NY, he could be a good place to start.

Jay... on the lighter side..... speaking of stedycam operation - a dream would be to get the guy who did the 4 minute stead. cam sequence in the movie "The Protector" starring Tony Jaa of "Ong-Bak" fame.
I read it was such grueling shoot the original cam. operator quit after a day.... they got a Thai steadicam operator who trained with Tony Jaa for some time, just to get the sequence perfect. I found a piece of the review and a clip.
Mikko..... I'm sure you heard about this.... very impressive

"Of particular note is a brilliant four-minute sequence where Kham ascends the stairs of a six-story restaurant/crime palace beating up countless stuntmen, scaring bystanders, breaking who knows how much crockery and tossing two unlucky goons over the railing for multi-story falls, all in one completely unbroken steadicam shot.
