The offer for 2x 8GB card for the purchase of a HVX200 will expire Sunday 31st March.

Still one of the best offers here:

MPEC-Link

You don't get two 8GB cards for free, they are giving you one free card when you buy the camera and one 8GB card.

Exactly. I bought with teltec.de and they have the same deal. bpm-media probably also. Those are three major systemhouses and are legit sellers.

so the price of the HVX at MPEC came down exactly the worth of 2 8GB cards.... It was 6000 Euro WITHOUT cards before (december 2006) and now it is 6000 Euro WITH 2x 8GB.

Correct?

I thought to have read from Panasonic-Germany about the rebate with 2x 8GB cards for free.... But there was never an entry on their page but only the e-mail-contact adress of Panasonic Germany for the rebate.

6000 Euro it's about $ 9 243 US, this not a deal at all for USA/Canada even with 2 X 8 gb card. HVX is very expensive in Europe.

First of all: 6000 Euro is around 7973 USD and not 9243 USD (for today).

And further: From the beginning, the HVX200E has never been "a deal" in Europe... But it has never been under 6000 Euro. That's why some bought a PAL-camera in a country outer Europe. But if the normal price is not lower than 6000 Euro in Germany and you can get now 2 P2 cards with it, then that's still better than the best price in Germany of 6000 Euro for ONLY the cam...

I bought mine here in Switzerland for about 6972 USD. Last year.... And that price was better than EU-prices were at that time.

Hi cici,

Oups ! This was Canadian $. For an idea, I just bought a HVX200 here two weeks ago, $ 5300 Cdn with one P2 4 gb and 2 5400 batteries from authorized store. An extra P2 8 gb is $ 1200 cdn. It's still a better deal from here however. If those damn P2 card can go down. : )

I really hope for up to 75% till Christmas: up to 50% when 16GBs come out and another 50% when 32GB come out before the end of the year (as announced...) .... That's up to 75% from today's price and I'd start calling the cards "affordable".

4GB cards came out at $2750 each. In December a 32GB card will be available for "around $1,000." That's 8x as much capacity for about 1/3 the price, or a price-per-gigabyte drop to 1/24 as much.

I'll believe THAT when I see it..... what with Panny's track record on delivering larger P2 cards :(
