How come some Russian Filmmaker with 30 million dollars...

This preview looks cool but I'm not sure how you can judge it better than any other movies based on this. We've all seen movies that were nothing but effects on a bad script. Hopefully this one is good at both.

[Note to self]I think I know where the basic premise of Borat came from...[/Note]

And if you live anywhere near Branson Missouri, you get to see his face on tons of billboards as you drive down the street. :(

I really liked Night Watch, I can't wait for this one. The car on the building looks a little over the top but, I can't complain too much. Sure they are not oscar worthy movies but I love the world they create and the escapism factor. Very entraining.

jeremy, you guys really need an indie video store around you, I saw Daywatch at least 6 months ago. And there's an effect at the end that is pretty ridiculous, the car thing is the least believable effect.

Really, does it have english subtitles? All though I wouldn't mind seeing it in theaters.

Yeah, the bus crash into the guy and car bit looks ridiculous but I don't expect Spielberg stuff here, just fun over the top effects. I actually really loved the part in the first one when their truck did a flip over the guy. Totally unrealistic but it fit the movie. I do worry because they had a lot of money this go around they went a little crazy.

That car effect may have been cheesy, but I don't think it was any worse than the over bloated effect in the mega-budgeted Ghost Rider. And it was a thousand times better than the effect the team who put together Ultraviolet did (and they had more money). It just goes to show that if you got people who know what they're doing, you don't need a lot of money. And shooting in Russia probably didn't hurt either.

Btw, I think I may have overstated Daywatch's budget. It might even be less than that.

in my experience, people that know their **** cost more.

Nightwatch was so-so. Visually it was very nice, imaginative, interesting, but in terms of storyline characters and plot... I was kinda bored.

The effects in Night watch were pretty cool also. Can't say I loved the film but there was some very cool effects work.

As far as why hollywood continues to dissappoint while foreign movies get better and better...

Yeah, it's amazing that people can spend over a hundered mill and still end up with a piece of trash. But don't balme the filmmakers. They don't care. They are not trying to make a good film. They're making a marketable product. And they are doing very well at that (MPAA has listed 2006 as a record breaking year for box office). Blame the freakin morons that go see all the crap that is peddeled at them.

I couldn't watch all of night watch but I got further into it than I did superman. jesus was super man super lame.
