left side of picture looks yellow/green.

just wondering if any of you guys are experiencing a yellowish or greenish tint on the left side of your pictures. i notice it more with the "colour" scenefile as the chroma level is at +7 and in underexposed or low light areas.

any insight would be greatly appreciated!!!

top, this is the second time this has been posted too and know one said a thing the first time, I have had this problem as well with a diffrent HVX and so have a number of other people in the snowboard filming world....its seems to be kinda a big issue....barry maybe you know something about this?
 
that looks like th eCCD may have taken a hit, i know my old tv made images like this because the Ray gun was damaged
 
We know at least 4 other people that are having this problem. I'm positive none of these cameras have been "hit". All of these people shoot a lot in the snow and that's where we have noticed the "pee stain". We have other examples but most of this seems to appear on the left side of the shot.

Barry do you have any idea what this could be?
 
"gibby" you beat me too it, ha.... yea I dont think anything was physically damaged, unless something happend when they were being manufactured as this has been evident on several diffrent HVX's i think including ones I have used and people I know its at like 5 or so, all pretty much bought at diffrent times . and yea always on the left side of the frame.
 
That looks like a bad example of a camera that needs its white shading adjusted, and fast. It's green on the upper left, purple on the lower right.
 
ok maybe im out of the loop, but i dont know anything about "white shading"..I just googles HVX WHITE SHADING and got nothing...havent had the chance to get my hands on the book yet so maybe thats why....dont you think it is odd that this is something to show up on so many cameras though atleast 5 that I have seen with in little the snowboard filming world.

Hey are you guys white balancing off of the snow? I wonder if that could be the problem??? we are getting the same thing on two of our HVX cameras.
 
White shading is the electronic convergence of the 3 ccd's. Adjusting it is similar to adjusting old school 3 gun crt projectors. AFAIK the HVX makes no provision for this adjustment at the user level.
This looks like DV footage? Do you experience the same problem with p2? It could have something to do with chroma resampling for the 4:1:1 colorspace. The HVX goes through what like 4 or 5 stages of processing before if finally slathers some 1s and 0s to tape.
Then again it could be something as simple as the temperature affecting the metal body and therefore the alignment of the optics.
The HVX is naturally too saturated. Do you have the same issues @ chroma 0?

Shot in 0 degrees in the snow for a few hours and didnt see the problem - with and without a portabrace rain slicker. Usually at +3 chroma.

I don't think it's the weather. We (snow shooters) have all used lots of different cameras and the temperatures have never been an issue. Also I am one of the lucky few that have not encountered this problem. There's a group of us from another board that decided we needed to address this problem. We have tried to narrow it down by comparing settings and levels but we haven't gotten anywhere with that. We were really hoping that Barry knew something about this. We aren't shooting on tape- this is from P2.
 
It's not from the cold, I just got through with the Iditarod and we had probably a dozen HVXs in total up there, none showed this issue. It's white shading. You need to have a service center calibrate the camera.
 
My HVX has just come back from Panasonic in Hamburg - it had exactly the same symptoms.

Someone on this forum told me they thought it was a shading problem but in fact, Panny replaced the CCD.

It looks perfect now.

The screengrab i posted previously was from a 720p 30PN p2 clip, exported out of FCP at 960x720 or whatever it does by default.

i shot today with a lowered chroma setting of +4 and it seems to be a lot better.
but still, not too excited about the green on other scenefiles.
