Low voltage, full battery?

I just got back from shooting my son's Pinewood Derby, where I started with a fully charged AB Dionic 90 battery. After about 30 or 45 minutes, I started getting the low voltage warning, but the battery was showing almost full. Is there a way to recalibrate the battery, or is there something wrong with the cam? I've never noticed this before, so I'm assuming it's a new issue.

Please assure me it's nothing to worry about?

I do not know your specifics, how much power your camera uses; how long does it normally run on this battery. The problem can be in the menu setting, in how your camera interpets the battery state of charge.
As far as the battery itself, the state of charge indicator will eventually loose its accuracy if you do not let the battery to go through the re-learn cycle. This can be accomplished either on the AB charger using their re-learn function, or by allowing the battery to completely discharge on the camera. Once it discharges, the fuel gauge is recalibrated.

Thanks Alex. I normally get at least 3 hours off these, but today, it was shutting down every 15 minutes or so. You have any idea how to access the relearn function?

Assuming your AB charger has a discharge module (it is optional) the charger will ask you to start relearn process, you just need to acknowledge. If the camera actually shutting down in 15 minutes, the problem is not with the relearn. Relearn is a way to make the display more accurate, it has no relation to the actual run time. Youu seem to indicate that your battery does not deliver charge, you need to call AB support...

You've got an original HD100 instead of an upgraded (aka fixed) HD100A, right? The battery feedback issue was one of the known bugs in the HD100 that got fixed by the upgrade to HD100A.

Actually, I have the 100u, which I thought covered all those early bugs. Anywho, I did a little more research of my own, and called JVC support. Caller 12 in line. They suggested I take the charger and battery to Best Buy, because they might have the gear to test them. I called Anton Bauer, and was warmly greeted by a human before the second ring. He said that sometimes the battery will freeze up, and to try resetting it. There is a pin hole right ove the LCD, hold it down for a few seconds until it flashes, then put it on the charger. We'll see how that works, before doing something drastic... like going to Best Buy with it.

Ok, latest updates on this problem. While trying to shoot my Daughter's wedding, I had both D90s fully charged, and couldn't shoot a full 63 minute tape. I called Anton Bauer ( And again, was greeted by a person who spoke English by the 2nd or 3rd ring), who suggested I send in the mounting plate. It's been about 2 weeks or so, and I just recieved a call from them. They found a dirty block, made a modification, and all should be well when I get it back.

I can't say this enough, I wish ALL manufacturers were like AB. AMD used to also have this glowing praise, but they have since dropped on my list.
