Pitching HD (w/ HVX) to corporate clients

Hey... wasn't really sure where to post this. I tried searching, but didn't come up with much.

But... I know a lot (dare I say, most) of us are using the HVX for corporate clients. What sorts of recourses are you utilizing to justify the HD switch? Does anyone have any good stats/charts/etc for this sort of thing?

I've done one presentation, and did well enough to get called back in to do another for the rest of the marketing team. A nice little brainstorming thread may benefit many of the members....

Thanks
Cody

I think just saying you are "future proofing" what you shoot scores with most clients. Down converting for their immediate use and keeping the video and project in your archive for when HD is more widely used indicates you are thinking about your client. Figuring in what it would cost to reshoot the video project in HD later can't help but sell originating in HD to begin with. Those sorts of selling points go a long way.

I find it pretty easy over all.

1.
Just bring some HD grabs and interlaced SD grabs.
Tell them that the net is all progressive.

2.
Show downsampled HD 4:2:2 and SD 4:2:0/4:1:1 images side by side

3.
Futureproofing

4.
Where can this be used:
From the internet to plasmas & HD-projection @ tradeshows or kick offs.

Is there anything to lose going HD
Is a comon question.

Not from what I see, is the common answer

Then we sit down discussing the product.

Jim pretty much covered it. Clients just like to hear the words HD and no that years later, if they want, you can make them an HD copy should they need it. Right now though, DVD is still how most of us deliver.

I did however get some clients excited when I mentioned giving them an HD Quicktime version of some training videos for projection. They were for a course they were teaching and I told them that the HD QT version would look better through an LCD than the SD DVD. Made-em happy.

Great stuff guys!
Has anyone shown clients hard data numbers... ie: this many homes have HDTVs/this many have high speed connections for HD downloads/etc??? I almost think there's got to be some sort of website that has this sort of information, but I couldn't really find anything searching google...

Anyway, this is a great start! Let's keep it going!

thanks

P.S. gunleik- you need any help out in Scandanavia? I'd love to visit the homeland, and it sounds like you're getting the HD message through to em out there :)
