New DVX film trailer!

I'm posting this trailer to simply let fellow DVX'rs see what I've been up to and spread the word about the film.

Shattered: Four best girlfriends hold the man who brutally attacked one of them captive, pushing their friendship to the limit deciding whether he will live or die.

I wrote, directed and produced the film, am currently in the editing stage, 3/4 complete, and should have the film to distributors by Fall 2007.

Tech stuff: We shot on up to 3 DVXs at a time, squeeze mode, 24pA, no filters or extra lenses. We will be uprezing to HD before the final color correct. All sound was recorded to Metacorder and Pro Tools and the film was edited in FCP 4.5 HD. This is a Mac project all the way. ; )

Check it out!

Enjoy.

Awesome,just beautiful.
What kind of mic did you use?Audio was very smooth.
So you do CC after HD conversion. Is it better the other way around?I mean uprezing to HD after CC is done.
Keep up the good work.I would like to see the final version.
Good Day

This looks really good! Great trailer, shows us the story whilest keeping us on edge.

I'm guessing it's a feature(?). This is definitely a film I'd rent from the video store or buy for that matter.

Looks totally pro. If you're going all out to uprezz, maybe you should consider entering it into a few of the bigger film fests the world has to offer. This doesn't look like the usual straight to video cheesy thriller, this looks intense with excellent performances. If you get positive feedback during test screenings you should try to go as big as possible and use this as your calling card.

Would love to hear more about the project - budget, how long production was etc. and for sure am interested in the uprezzing process.

Congrats on this, please keep us in the loop with it's progress!

wow, that looked really really well done.

Do you have any BTS shots? or anything of the sort?

what audio equipment were you using? Please let us know how it all works out for ya, looks like a great movie.

very cool but
The beginning is good, the middle part is too long, the ending of the trailer is excellent.
I think you should try to match the speed of the ending in all the trailer and shorten it as well

Thanks for all the kind words.

It is a feature, and we will be making the festival rounds, but primarily it's about making a sale, getting it in the marketplace and moving on to the next one and the next one...

MY CC guys tell me that up-rezing to HD before CC gives the Davinci/EQ more info to work with.

I'll have to get back with you on the mics used. But our sound man is the best. Never skimp on sound! Oh, and that's not even sweetened/mixed sound you're hearing yet.

It was difficult enough to make the actual movie so our planned BTS doc and other extras never happened. Oh well. I will hopefully have a gag reel on the DVD that will show some of that stuff, but ultimately, the commentary will tell the whole story.

Thanks again. Spread the word.

Sounds great I lked it movie looks pro.

There was way too many fade to black's throughout the whole thing. I couldnt focus my eyes. Audio sounds great, Color Correcting could be worked out more though, still seems very flat.

Well, congrats on making a feature. Not easy. Curious if you think the 3 camera setup was worth it, or if you found you had too much footage to contend with in the edit.

Yes, I definitely had quite a lot of footage, but I love being able to capture a performance from almost all the angles I need without having to hope to capture it again after resetting and re-lighting. For certain scenes, I can see myself shooting with even more at some point if I could get 'em. It takes you more time to light a scene initially, but the more options the better...for me anyway.

Thanks for the 'grats too. And oh yeah, it was the hardest thing I've ever done. But I can't wait to start the next one.

We haven't CC'd yet.

brilliant, i agree with the comment that the mid was a little slow pace but the ending was great! had me intrested all the way. still am. nice inspriring work there.

I'm all for the fade in/fade out (blinking) in trailers but you went nuts with it in the opening scene to the point it was annoying. I'd do the fades from scene to scene, not over in over in the same location (the diner). You'll get distribution easily with this straight to DVD in Blockbuster. Try Maverick.

I thought that the acting held up nicely. Good sound. I like the hint at subtext and several underlying plot lines. Like others have mentioned, not wild about the flash editing approach used throughout.
