The Most Successful HVX Movie Ever

I was wondering if anyone knew what the most successful comercially-released movie has been so far that was shot on the HVX. I am thinking specifically feature films. Has it been direct-to-video genre films or anything higher profile?

im not sure ots been out long enough. the general time it takes is like a year from production start to full release. the hvx is only a year and couple months old.

But do we know of any high-profile movies that are in production or post? I read Barry´s sticky on who´s using it and it´s mostly tv / docs / b-roll / behind-the-scenes. Surely someone is already working on the next 28 Days Later with an HVX... or not?

Many of us are. But the DVX films didn't really hit the theaters in quantity until 2005, three years after. So HVX films should start showing up in the next year or two.

I doubt any movie that has a "high profile" prior to being produced, would be shooting on the HVX. That's not to say that a movie that is shot on the HVX wont eventually gain a high profile.

TV has a much shorter incubation period. I know there are a good number of mainstream productions lensing HVX.

So great, there is still time for someone to start shooting one now. Barry, when you say that "many of us are", does that mean you are involved in a really cool feature project right now? Is there another thread with details of the production?

the final scene in The Departed was shot on hvx200. there's a thread around here somewhere with a link talking about it.

Details haven't been announced yet; the only announcement so far is that Jack Daniel Stanley is the director. We've just completed a screenplay purchase from another DVXUser member. Jack'll probably be posting an official thread soon.

Barry, I can´t wait to see some footage. Knowing your abilities I am sure we´ll all be blown away with what you´ll be able to do with the HVX. By the way, now that you mention a purchase of a fellow DVX user´s script, I wonder how viable it would be to set up a forum section dedicated to script & project trafiking... sort of like personal adds with posts like "Indie producer seeking scripts" and "have script, will travel". Is this even realistic? Or would internet annonimity and mistrust render the whole exercise imposible?

We will likely shoot our first feature HVX. After the quality we got on KATRINA and the fact that the bigger it gets, the better it looks, I have no problem at all shooting on it. It's what we're planning anyway. We screen in a movie theater this tues, so that will be another test of how well it holds up under semi-real conditions.

But the camera has not been out that long, and for most "high profile" projects, there are better(more expensive) HD options. I think we will see it in more indies though.

I just saw their trailer. The images and story looked good. But was it just me or was the sound a bit off?

No, you're right... the sound needs work. I'm guessing that recording in bathrooms is a bit of a nightmare to start with... though some of the dialogue sounds as though the recording level was just set too high. Anyway, good luck to them... it's a great concept!

DARN IT!!

the departed was just spoiled rotten for me..... crud!!

rad looking scene though, the HVX delivers like a mofo

should I still check it out? (the departed) or is it completely ruined from knowing that outcome?

lol, dam bro, the guy said in his post not to watch the clip if you havent seen the movie. it's still worth watching though.
