480i 24pA footage in dvc pro HD 720p/24 timeline.

Just wondering if anyone can give me any insight on capturing some 480i 24pA footage (16x9, shot on JVC HD 100) and bringing it into my DVC Pro HD 720p/24 timeline without having to render. I'm using FCP 5.1.2.

Any help will be much appreciated.

You'll have to do the *real* research, but I'd start with this tool:

You maybe be able to convert/uprezz that 480i footage over to DVCproHD and then import into your timeline. Like I said, you'll have to do the research and I'm not 100% positive it'll convert to 24p, but I do know it'll convert to DVCproHD 720.

But as far as not having to render the footage from the JVC i'm pretty much out of luck?

We started the editing process today, so it is only about 30 secs of footage that will be used in the 7 min doc. So rendering won't be much of an issue and although I am the Dp on this piece I am also the editor's "workflow confidant." The HVX footage is far superior to that of the JVC. I know, I know one's HD and one's SD but still the HVX's color sampling kicks even HDV into the ground.
