Reign of the Fallen - Short film trailer

So now we're into October (almost) Ninja. How's everything going? I've been dying to see a dvd in my mailbox. Most of the guys at work are dying to hear I got the dvd in my mailbox. (I'm bringing culture to the county) Everyone was stoked after seeing the trailer and I get asked all the time if the movie is here yet.

On one hand, I'm really anxious to see this movie.

On the other hand, I wouldn't mind seeing how it all came together.

I suppose you could send out the movie now and send the extras disc later...uhh...just assuming that it would be on a seperate disc.

Honestly, whatever you feel is the best option.

I did one a few years back that featured a Stormtrooper and Jawas.

For a second there I thought you were talking about TROOPS, the SW/Cops vid. Late in the game here on this. Not really into fan films, but the SW ones are generally interesting. Your, NINJA is very intriguing to me. Can't wait to see it, and yes since it has been this long, I am of the lowly opinion that it is not a bad thing to just finish it the way you want it. That way it is done and over and you can concentrate on the next project.

A side note, just noticed that jdanstan is from New Orleans. Hope your place did not get damaged. I have a lot of realtives down there but so far only heard of one cousin with damage.

First time I've read this thread... I cannot believe people even brought up the "oh... it's a fan film? well screw that. I just HATE that kinda stuff."

I guess marlathemovie.com sucked too, right?

Jesus, Im sitting here doing events and weddings... this kind of stuff is great. Whats up with the haters?

Whatever. Ninja, can't you just get some cash together and let us download the entire movie? Bandwidth isn't THAT expensive... especially considering the work you've put into this.

this trailer looked great. I want to watch the whole film. Where can I see it online? I know you can't sell it, so you should put it on the force.net or ifilm or something as a fan film so people can see it.

fan films rock by the way! made by people who love movies and are not interested in the fame and fortune!!!

Okay, well the general consensus from the feedback I've gotten so far is that people would rather wait and get all the special features, so that's what I'm going to do. Thanks again for everyone's patience and feedback! I meant to do it awhile ago but I have some pictures of the lighting set up we used for the night time duel that I'll be putting up on the site soon (which is soon to be revamped by the way) for anyone who was curious.

Cool. So just out of curiosity...how long is it gonna be?

I'm not sure what you were talking about so I'll answer both. Although I'm still tightening it up it looks like the movie will run around 63 minutes. As far as finishing the DVD, well I have to have the final cut of the movie done by October 10th no matter what, and after that I'll put together the DVD. I dont want to make any more promises, but I will say that I'll keep giving updates and don't be too surprised if its all done this month.

Update for all interested:

The movie's done-done, for real this time, with an additional round of shooting, editing, and effects completed, and we're showing it at an event called Culturefest being held this Saturday in Glen Ridge, NJ. Anyone in the area is welcome to attend...details will be posted on our website tonight (www.dtllc.net).

Also, we're going to attempt to start a forum on our site, but that of course requires participants, so anyone who wants to join and discuss filmmaking or RotF or anything else feel free to go to www.reignofthefallen.com and join the forum.

I'm going to be recording commentaries in the next two weeks and assembling a little making-of diary, then I just have to stitch together a DVD and off they'll go.

Thanks,
Dave

PS, we appreciate any word of mouth you guys spread for us to get anyone who might be interested to take a look at the trailer and the website.

Dave, I got chills from this, and the previous, trailers. Now send me the disc!!!!!!!
Man, I am just blown away by what I have seen so far. Where did you shoot? You locations are really awsome. Please don't tell me they are entirely cg.

Wow. That was really cool. Loved the framing and coloring. Cant wait to see those jedi fight scenes. I liked the voice over talent at the very beginning of the trailer.

No way... Part of my influence on this was to do away with the cg-heavy star wars and go back to straight up photography whenever possible. We actually shot in NJ, if you can believe it....

Maybe I should start telling people we went to Tunisia. :)

completely cool! please tell me how you do the light saber effect...please please with sugar on top...
