Hello there...
This is my first time on here and just wanted to ask a few questions...

I've finally decided on buying a DVX100be...(I was looking for ages and it was because of this site that made me finally opt for the DVX))...I've now found one here in the UK for £2000 brand new (thats about $4000)...

I am totally new to using these camera's. And the only other Camcorder I've ever used is an old Canon 8mm from the early 90's.

I've just bought quite a powerful laptop from'Dell' and was wanting to know what was the best type of Editing Software to get to use on the DVX...

Also does anyone know of the best filters to use with the PAL version DVX? (to get the best attempt at the 'film' look?)

Thanks in advance....
Rob

Welcome Robstene

First thing get a U.V lens to protect the camera. better to scratch the fliter than the lens. cleaning the camera lens of dust and dirt too offen ,and you will risk scratching it too.

For PC , you can use avid, they have a free version go here:
http://www.avid.com/freedv/

For Film like shots. you have to use a 35mm adapter.there are a few, but since you are in England. go and get sgpro : http://www.sgpro.co.uk/ (480 pounds )or a cheaper one in italy wdr35pro: http://www.wdr35.com/ (550euros +50 eurosshipping)

Where are you buying from? Proav.co.uk has one for 1991 incl VAT and does so interesting package deals. Should mention i know nothing about them it's just were I have been looking.

Thanks alot for your help...

I had seen the camera at 'H Preston' Media in Malvern for £1999.

But I will check out the other place you mentioned.

I found it really hard to find anywhere that was selling it for less than £2k...?

Thanks again...

Rob, just to let you know i got mine from Preston Media this time last year for 2k and it's been fine. go for it.

Thanks James...yeh I might go with Preston Media...

Whats the other major items I should get do you reckon? Definitly some filters...would you recommend a boom pole and microphone?

Great short film by the way....love the way it flickers from the memory back to the empty room at the end!

Got mine just today from 'Ask' store on Tottenham Court Road, London for 2000. Exciting times.

Best of luck Rob
