im not sure how this happened but i found a piece of dust behind the lens glass despite me never removing it and having a UV filter. Should I attempt to unscrew those tiny screws and remove it or should i take in into a place?

I was faced with this problem with my DVX-100A as well.

I don't know when or how it happened, but I had this huge piece of "gunk" stuck on the inside of my front lens element, right in the center.

I found no way to personally clean it.

I have the Mack Camera extended warranty and they did fix this for me under the warranty. I actually just received the camera back earlier today. I sent it to them in January.

I was very impressed with them fixing this. I was very unimpressed with the lousy way they packed the camera up to ship to me...

The lens is not air/dust tight. Crap gets in - it's a given. Worse, crap is already in from manufacturing process. It's a matter of luck if a big boogie gets disloged by the camera movements and it lands smack on the middle of the glass. You're using a $3000 camera, not a 50K professional lens, the difference in price comes from somewhere...
