Is there any sort of roadmap for 64gb & 128gb P2 cards? I'm holding out for the 128gb P2 card price around $1000... 2 hours of 1080p!

yeah yeah whatever... clients don't buy services based on P2 cards and tech specs, and I'm makin' plenty shooting SD right now. No one is demanding HD as none of my clients play it.

Anyway, thats beside the point...

anyone know a roadmap for 64gb/128gb cards?

Dang 1k for 32gigs? That's a sick price. Sheesh

Yeah, they must be nutz. I only have to pay about 200 for a 320 gig external HDD !!!! What a ripoff! :)

What are they going to announce next? 16 GB for 600, 8 gb for 200, and 4gb for 60 bucks? WAAAAY overpriced!!!

(If that was the case I would rush to panasonic HK to immediatelly buy 4 8 gb cards :)

Hope this is true!

Sick as in GREAT price. If ya knew that, then I took your response the wrong way. =DDD Too bad sixteens haven't even hit yet. I'd be selling my 8 gigs for 500 a piece. =(

Hey,

What will the total record time be at 1080P with a 32 gig card in?

Koa

1080's an easy one. It always runs about a gig per minute, so a 32 GB card will go about 32 minutes.

All this news about higher gb p2 cards is exciting. I wonder, however, if anyone can say, theoretically, of course, what the max amount of gb per p2 card can be. Is it even possible to theorize a max at this point? There are already talks of 64gb cards-mainly from folks in this forum, and I'd be ecstatic if we could at least get p2 cards that can record 1hr of p2 footage at 1080p.

32gb p2 cards should give me about 90 minutes of 720pn right? or is my math off?

if so thats cool, i could buy one of those to go with the p2 cards i already have and not have to worry about anymore time constraint for a long while.

i hope they :kali: over priced p2 cards from now on...wonder how much 4gb p2 cards are going to end up costing?

The only max we've heard is that they have plans to do a 128GB card. At the current pace, we should be able to expect 128GB around Dec. 2009. So 32GB approx. Dec. 2007, 64GB at Dec. 2008, 128GB at Dec. 2009.

128GB!! WOW! Thats about an hour and and a half of recording time at 1080p! I don't even know how much that is at 720p, but probably a lot! Thanks for the reply Barry, and sorry about all of the exclamation points.:cheesy:

The HVX will be long gone and not used by 2009.
And for that matter P2 will probably be gone...
Too much going on in the IT front. Too bad the HVX
is not upgradable like the RED will be.

Long gone and not used in just 2 years? I wouldn't be so confident in that statement. I bought my VX-1000 in late 1996, 5 years later it was still in demand, 10 years later it still shot video as good as most of the current DV models and sold for over $1000.

P2 is a technology that is replacing several tape based ones and is being adopted by major news networks. It will eventually be replaced, like everyting else, but not in two years.
