Portable DVD Player as Field Monitor

Hello, I'm considering buying a portable DVD player to use as a filed monitor. The Audiovox Multi Region Portable Tablet Style Slim DVD Player has video in via a mini- jack .125 inch composite - video, switchable with output.

Can I display the DVX100A's footage with this? (composite - video) I'm not that concerned with image quality as much as a 7" view screen.

Here is what www.Flatpanel.com said about it:
"We checked into your application and from what we can get from the data on the web, you can run the DVD player D-1750T from a video source via the mini connector. What we are not sure of is will it run in all scan modes other than standard interlaced and frame rate. The D-1750T is for consumer applications and is set up for running on formats and rates compatible to that general market. Your DVX100A camcorder can run in other modes that may not work with the DVD player."

Tell me what you guys think - Thanks Craig

I used one for my old DVX100a and it worked out fine. I used it to see the image while I had the camera on an EZ FX Jib Arm. It worked out really nice. Not a full scale professinal production monitor, but then we can't all afford one of those everyday.

hey craig,
before you do this, go take a look at some dvd players at a local store. (fry's electronics if you have one near by) I tried this with a Toshiba High definition screen (i believe it was 800x600) fist of all it looked amazing from a DVD, but from the composite mini jack it didn't look good at at. (not good enough to focus on HD anyway. I know you have the dvx so you don't need that)
But the reason to take a look at it is because some lcd's have a very small angle of viewing. so if you are not perfectly perpendicular to the screen then you won't see the image that well.
Otherwise if you just want to see an image and quality is not so good. it should do just fine.
good luck.

I have an XH-A1 and was planning on buying a portable dvd player as well.
I'm still looking around. There has to be something out there that could work.
