Indiana Jones - Treasure of the Templars Trailer!

Please don't take offense to this, but why would you spend so much effort and money on a fan film and not just write and direct your own thing with your own style?

Honestly, kind of my sentiment... my first ever short was a star trek spinoff, but I also shot with Hi8 and I was 15 years old.

We have all worked on many orignial projects before and since Treasure of the Templars.

The film was created simply because everyone involved loves the spirit of the Indiana Jones films.

Even with that said TOTT has a original story line, new composed music, lots of new characters, etc - this film is nearly all original as well.

Besides - the style of the Indiana Jones films are too fun to watch and make. It's hard to explain. Filmmaking is a lot about doing what you love.

Again we have worked on many projects before and after that were "original" but very few people seem to take notice and talk about those and a major factor is the fact they dont have recognizable titles. Anyways thank you for all of your questions.

I don't see why people are always so against fan films. Alot of filmmaking is about making something you'd want to see....and something that you'd enjoy making.

If i was a billionaire director I think I'd probably blow 300 million on a star wars fan film....cause I've always wanted to make a star wars movie. So what if theres no profit involved.....it would be pure filmmaking.....making the movie for the the movie ...and that alone.

I saw the first 5 minutes of the film, and I gotta say great stuff. I actually kept my interest, I wanted to see more. Yeah its not original, but I think it is a great way of showing and proving of skills. A big plus is definitely the great production design, costume, props, and all that good stuff. I love the way that tent looks, in which that artifact is kept....

I always liked Indiana Jones, more than Superman and all these other heroes, and this little indy film looks great. Good job, a few cheesy elements, which is all good considering fun was the primary goal with this thing and overall very professional!

Thanks, Brett. The forum is very cool. I haven't had a chance to read much of it because, as you say, there is a wealth of information there. Sorry for being snarky.

Hey, fair enough. I was just curious.:)

FYI there are millions of cosplayers out there, with millions of $ worth of props and costumes, just DYING to be in your fan film so they can show them off.

And they're willing to bring it all free of charge

Heck some of them may even cater your film for free just so they can have an opportunity to lounge next to your version of jabba in their princess leah metal bikini.

Hey I was planning to shoot a Blade Runner shortfilm soon. Will it be an error then?

Not to thread jack, but I always wished there was more movies set in the "world" that other (past) movies have created. Like do a movie that is set in the Blade Runner world (timeline) but that has a totally different story, or one set in the Fifth Element world, or what ever. It's not say it hasn't happened in the past, Star Wars and the Matrix has done this but I'd like to see more. Just wishful thinking I guess. It just seems they could save some of the sets and costumes and make a few more chapters to these amazing world's they create... but not sequels, if that makes any since.

Anyway, I'm ranting. I really dug your trailer for this Indiana Fan film, looks like it will be a lot of fun to watch.

Hey macgregor. I'm right there with you on the Blade Runner spin off. I'm a big fan. I work with some people that already own some of the props/clothes. IM me if your interested.

No, not if it's Blade Runner. Only Indiana Jones spinoffs. What kind of question is that? Plus, I never said there was anything wrong with it, I was just asking.:zombie_smiley:

Trailer was pretty chaotic for me. Looks like you didnt want to loose single action from whole flick. Also coloring was too videoish and it distract me from adventure atmosphere. In post you can change radically whole feeling of any flick.

That for the picture, but I have respect for everybody who is trying to shoot such a thing. Keep on.

I agree about the color. It needs to be fine tuned a bit. I wouldnt go too stylized though - I think it would be too much of a departure from the look of the existing series.

As far as the action is concerned - This is a feature length film. Rest assured that you have yet to see a lot of the action. Not to mention there are plenty of CG shots that were not done in time to make it in this first version of the trailer. There has been talk about making another one in the future.
