best film look setting

doesn't matter if it's 24p or 24pa. It's all about lighting and framing.

If you have a 35mm adapter, all the better. But with raw DVX, you can easily achieve that filmic effect.

If I used regular 3 point lighting, can that bring out the colors more?

No matter what I set the image to it looks real dull, than when I'm in my house the color always changes from night-day. It turns blue at night... Ahhh...

Do a search on ATW or auto tracking white. That function may be enabled on your camera, in which case the camera is trying to white balance itself as the lighting changes.

If that's the case, you'll want to turn it off.

If its turning blue its on 56k setting which is for sunlight. You should always white balance manually just in case the lights you are using are not 32k.
The best way to bring out the colors is in post for me. I shoot pretty flat and bring up the colors I need, works well with reds as you can see in my short Red_Meat here. I was able to get the colors pretty saturated without artifacts.
