My reaction to the HVX v.s. others

Barry, is it the same on Mini-DV tape AND DVCPro 50 from the cards? Or is one more prone to the jagged edges?
Thanks.

My question is how is this camera for run and gun situations and low light situations on mini DV and P2.

Sorry to respond so late, had the flu all week. Yuk!! Anyway as far as run and gun ENG type work you might want the JVC HD110 because its a shoulder mount camera. I really enjoyed shooting with the JVC probably because of my broadcast TV experiece and being used to shooting with BetaCams on my shoulder. The JVC is more like that as far as the buttons/features/lens behaviour. I bought the HVX for the better recording formats and frame rates and just like the pictures it makes better. Any 1/3 inch chip camera however is gonna be horrible in low light.

I use the HVX in run and gun situations and it works just fine. I use an FS100, a DVRigPro stabilizer, and an on camera light when necessary. You have to know your tool's limitations, then make the most of what it can do. For me, I wanted the 1080p and the 4:2:2, and I'm willing to deal with the camera's shortcomings.
