No.

The arm carries the Merlin (so your arm doesn't have to). Merlin still carries the same weight.

Just to clarify... You still are limited to the same weight restrictions on the Merlin with the arm, so if you wanted to fly an hvx w/mattebox, 4x4 filter and p2 card (say the 16gig , it would technically be too heavy and you would need to move up in "rig sizes."

Any idea on release of the arm?

Correct.

Each part of the stabilizer: the Sled (Merlin in this case), the arm, and the vest, all have capacity limits. The weakest link sets the overall limit of the system.

You can put a Merlin on a Flyer arm and Vest, but you can still only fly as much as the Merlin can balance. I've even flown the Merlin on my G-50 arm, but again, 5.5lb of camera is still the limit of the sled in that case.

Well, I just got a Glidecam 2000 off ebay for $250. Thanks for all of the opinions, but that's saving me over $500, so I had to do it. I still want the Merlin...maybe later in the year I'll be better equipped financially.
