Heeeellllooo everyone.

Please check out my 'On The Lot' submission (I know the site's compression isn't that great) called 'All About Oscar'.

http://films.thelot.com/films/15603

We shot it in HD on the HVX at 1080p24 with the PS Technik 35mm lens adapter, shooting to 8 gig P2's and a firestore. Our lenses were high speed Zeiss', t1.3 18, t1.3 25, t1.3 35. t1.3 50, t1.3 85, t2.1 100, t2.1 135 and nice filter package.

Shot in 3 days.

The intro video was HDV1080i (didn't have the HVX).

Thanks,

Enjoy.

We also had some seriously awesome Elipz batteries and a sick Marshall on-board. The package we got was unbelievable.

WOW! you should be on the lot dude that was excellent, good luck. I submitted too but mine's not up yet. Great job.

Nice looking short. I gotta tell you, their compression makes me want to kill myself though. Really lame. For a guy who is going to replace electricians with robots on all his stages, I would think that Spielberg could and should do better with his web tech.

H e m a de y o u r f i l m p r a c t i c a ll y u n w a t c a b l e .

L - A - M - E

Good luck. That bit at the top was clever too.

Overland and PMP Thanks so much for the kind words... I really appreciate it... be sure to send me a link to your's when it is up.

I compressed to h.264 and it looked like an HD trailer for the apple.com/trailers site... but after the upload and the site's recompression.... ummm... not so nice anymore... anyway we all know that and we're all plagued by it.

Thanks again.

Wow. What kind of lighting setup did you have for the nighttime exteriors? I suppose what was your lighting setup in general? I was only a little dissapointed with the Deus Ex Machina, although it would have a real bummer if he never found the dog.

I loved the minority report intro video.

BTW, I've also got an On the Lot submissions (we only shot the intro on HVX) we shot it on 16mm. http://films.thelot.com/films/19559

Whoa...Bruno went to my highschool. I wasn't smart enough to get into TISCH, though.

I don't like talking schools on the forums since everyone seems to be down on film schools, and particularly film studies, which is in what I'm majoring. However...

I go to Wesleyan. No one's heard of it, but my parents had the idea that film production was too "professional" and wanted me to get a liberal arts degree instead and I didn't have the grades for USC or TISCH anyhow. So far I'm happy; the professors are mostly amazing, the special events and film series are impressive, and the on campus cinema is insane.

Your short was good, by the way. The ending was kind of obvious and I thought it could have been brought about in a more interesting way, and a lot of the night stuff looked rushed. (Handheld felt like point and shoot at times.) But it's still one of the better shorts I've seen here. You understand story structure, cinematography, blocking, and editing. Directing a child actor is impressive, too.

Thanks for your support and kind words.... I appreciate it, especially in a competitive time like this!

The night stuff I wanted hand-held to enhance the overall confusion/chaotic/disoriented atmosphere, just to get really in your face compared to the smooth glossy shots earlier and in the finale.

i am film studies major myself, in toronto, canada but had the privilege of taking a usc summer course for 6 weeks, film & digital cinematography and it was outstanding!

thanks

I found that our Marshall on-board was misleading. Whites looked a lot safer on the on-board than they did once in the edit and CC.

Anyone else have similar problems with an onboard, or with the Marshall?

We were going to CC with FinalTouch, but the colorist had a few issues with the suite. So we just did it in house, using the native FCP colour and image tools.

Thanks for the support! You may right, indeed, about that check list! If you only I had thought of religion!

another good one is the main charector feeling like an outsider in society because he used to feel like that as a kid and expressed that in film

also, i believe that quite often the father figure lacks presence and paternal responsibiity.

Since OnTheLot doesn't even work, can we get a DVXuser special here? I'd like to see it-- not enough to go to ONTHELOT though.
