DV SUPERSTORE

For those that don't know me I am a member for about a year and a half now and have about 5k posts and show my work a lot here.

Almost all of the gear here was won through DVXuser film fests or made redundant through DVXuser film fests. Since I am no "man of leisure" I cannot afford to keep this stuff around if I don't need it. There's nothing here I didn't like or wouldn't love to keep. which brings us to the featured item. I would not be selling this baby if I didn't have to. Tons of sentimental value. My DVX100a. It would love to be able to offer it as a prize for one of the fests but I can't afford to. Barring that I want to sell it to a good home. Someone that promises to get off their @#$ and MAKE MOVIES. So here it is.

SOLD DVX100A PACKAGE $1600.00
SOLDnewallDVXstuff.jpg

  5. Battery Charger/ Power Adaptor (stock item)
  6. shoulder strap (stock item)
  7. remote control (stock item)
  8. 3 72mm general brand FILTERS: UV protective (filters UV haze/protects lens, Polarizing (bluer skies, shoot through glass and water reflections), and FD (counteract harsh light/green tone of fluorescents & saturate under natural light) ALL YOU NEED! (approx.. $30 - 50 value)
  9. FREE DVXuser Keychain :love4: (priceless)
  10. Varizoom Camera bodybag and Mattbox bags (for inside your camera bag or protecting on tripod)
  11. Varizoom Camera Bag - tear near zipper but fully functional - not included in value of package due to tear - toss it or use it till you get a new bag - or save $99 and keep this one.
  12. Century extending LCD hood - for shooting in bright sunlight - makes LCD visible. Its supposed to have another flap that folds out like a baseball cap brim. Like bag it is still functional. It still telescopes to a longer length than most LCD hoods without the flap. Also like bag it's included as a freebie - not included in the value of the package I just have no use for it as a I have a cloth one now. Might as well give it to you.
DVX100A - KICKING THE TIRES
The Camera is in excellent working order and has only superficial problems.
DETAILS: There is a small spec of dust in the eyepiece.
newpixel.jpg

It is a speck of dust and not a dead pixel however, as it appears to float above the screen when moved around. The speck does not move but it's spatial relationship to the screen changes is it is on some pane of glass above the screen. It is usually obscured by the timecode here and you would likely never notice it.

It is missing a piece of plastic behind the ND Filter switch
newswitch.jpg

According to the repair tech I spoke to at Specialized Communications this is a common Achilles Heel (somnething that breaks often on the DVX).

It's missing the snap lens cap. This was $9 to replace at Specialized Communications (
800-359-1858). However I used the included Varizoom mattebox pouch instead of the lens cap. (just toss it over the front and pull the drawstring and pull off and shove in your pocket) You can probably get generic 72mm snap lens cap as well.

That's it.
The Camera Works perfect. You can see the work I've done with this camera via the link to my website in my signature.

FS: Century .7x Wide Angle Converter

SOLDCentury .7x Wide Angle Converter for DVX100, A, B $350.00 ($700 New, $450 value )!
SOLDcentury.jpg

This wide angle adaptor lens is in near mint condition.
Combine with one of my FlowPod systems for extra smooth flying.
A wide angle of view helps counteract camera movement.
Also very useful for filming in close quarters.
I saw an MTV crew come out of a small Voodoo Museum in New Orleans with a DVX and this exact lens. The halls in that museum vary between 2 - 4 feet wide.
A great lens for the DVX at half price new and 100 less than used lens at B&H.

Comes with free DVXuser Keychain :Drogar-Love(DBG):
And Crown Royal "Lens Bag"

Price = $350 (compare $699 new and $450 used)

FS: Century Anamorphic LCD Hood & "For Parts" Aanamorphic Adaptor

FS: Century Anamorphic LCD Hood & "For Parts" Aanamorphic Adaptor

SOLD Century Anamorphic LCD Hood & "For Parts" Anamorphic Adaptor $150 ($300 new for LCD Hood ALONE)
http://www.schneideroptics.com/ecommerce/CatalogItemDetail.aspx?CID=1076&IID=1729
This handy LCD HOOD magnifies and UNSQUEEZES ANAMORPHIC VIDEO on your DVX100 or 100A LCD screen making it easy to frame whether you are shooting in Squeeze Mode or using the Anamorphic Adaptor lens! It also helps in focusing for the Anamorphic Adaptor.
SOLDlcdadaptor.jpg

I'm also including some small bungees. Because f the curved glass in the hood, it can cause the LCD to tip down when it passes a certain point. I used one of these bungees as pictured and it adds just the right resistance so your LCD positions and stays put as normal.
bungee1.jpg
bungee2.jpg

And of course a free DVXuser Keychain is included

As an extra I'm throwing in a "for parts" Anamorphic Adaptor ($750 new and working).
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=Search&A=details&Q=&sku=282865&is=REG&addedTroughType=search
This extra is free and does not count towards the value of the price. But is included as an incentive. If you need the LCD adaptor to shoot with your current Anamorphic Lens then you will now have some backup parts. If you don't have an anamorphic lens and are getting the LCD adaptor to shoot squeeze, well you may be able to get the Lens adaptor back together and be able to shoot at full resolution widescreen. All the optics are good in the adaptor (though not perfect). The only thing wrong with it is that the screw holes in the back casing are stripped and I've lost the screws. The lens adaptor is mostly plastic parts (hence the stripped holes) and was never airtight. A lot of people have to take it apart to get dust out of it. According to the tech I spoke with at Specialized Communications this is a common problem with these lens adaptors (the screw holes stripping). The part to fix it is no longer made. They can sometimes fix it and sometimes not. It basically must be Macguyvered. If I was going to keep my DVX I would get some screws and glue the thing together and it would work fine. But I don't want to sell you something Macguyvered. So I'll give it to you for free and you can Macguyver it. Then you would be able to shoot 16X9 at the highest resolution possible on the DVX and frame easily, that would be a $950 value (working Anamorphic Adaptor + LCD Anamorphic Adaptor)

FS: DVXuser DEMO Flowpod Stabilizer with Vest and Low Flow Kit

FS: DVXuser DEMO Flowpod Stabilizer with Vest and Low Flow Kit

DVXuser DEMO Flowpod Stabilizer with DV Sportster Vest and Low Flow Kit + Cases $800 ($1350 new!)
+ Bogen Manfrotto Quick release sliding plate (additional $50 Value)

This vest stabilizer setup was only used by Barr_S for his review:
you can read the details here http://www.dvxuser.com/articles/VZflowpod/
used_fp_system_partsSOLD.jpg

it comes with everything pictured except, like the boosted pic says, the monitor.

This setup is in near perfect condition "like new" as it was just used to test and write the article.

What I like about this setup is how lightweight and portable it is. It also seems a bit easier to set up and balance than some others I've tried. The only reason I'm getting rid of both of these is that I want to fly my HVX with lots of accessories and that exceeds the weight limit for the vest. HVX and giant battery is OK for the vest. But monitor and maybe a 35mm adaptor would be too much (doing a walk and talk with a fairly consistent distance from the actors and stopped down a bit so the DOF isn't crazy shallow for example). But you can fly the HVX for sure on the vest (7lb limit) and the HVX plus accessories up to 9lbs on just the Flowpod.

In addition to the Varizoom kit a Bogen Manfrotto Quick release plate is included.

It's worn but in perfect working condition. ($50 New) To attach the camera you have to remove the top plate of the Flowpod which involves completely removing (not just loosening) 3 tiny screws. A quick release base and plate is a must for these types of sleds. It allows you to slide the camera into a locked position without removing the top of the flowpod and you can also use the quick release plate with other bogen manfrotto bases on your tripod or whatever.

Curugon "highly" recommends the Flowpod and says he "uses it regularly". He used it on both these shorts
THE ORE (HVX)

and TRIAGE (DVX)

(the opening shot is shot from a car though)

PRICE = $800 (new $1350)

and oh yeah ... DVXuser Keychain is included :)

Except for one small cosmetic issue (see below) this is exactly like the DEMO unit even including the

See above post for review, and other details.

It is in good and perfect working condition, but the top of the foam on the grip handle is torn. You have to peel back the foam to dock it. I'm sure you could replace it cheaply and this package would be identical to teh $800 package. It is, however, actually easier to dock with the small tear there.

Free: Flowpod Extras

Free: Flowpod Extras

  1. I have a set of 4 extra counter weigths for the FLOWPOD available for free to whoever buys one of the Flowpods and asks for them first. ($20 Value)
    http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=Search&A=details&Q=&sku=300363&is=REG&addedTroughType=search

    300363.jpg

If you have an HVX you will need the additional weight kit.

If you have a DVX you don't need it.
  2. Also I have an extra base adaptor for the Bogen quick release plate (but no plate) same deal as the counterweights - first come first serve. You could put this base on your tripod and the other base on your flowpod and switch back and forth easily.

Shipping, Payments & Returns

Shipping, Payments & Returns

  1. You pay for shipping.
  2. You have one week (7 days) after receiving item (after it's signed for or left) for a full refund minus your initial shipping. I can't afford to refund you after that because the money will be spent. I will pay for return shipping.
  3. The only reason there will be a refund is if you disagree on how the item was represented. If the item breaks in shipping then there will be no refund (so get shipping insurance)
  4. Items are sold "as is". While I give you every guarantee that items are as represented here, most are used and I cannot warranty them indefinitely.
  5. Payment will be accepted through PayPal.
  6. Items will be shipped within two days after payment is received via whatever method and speed you choose. The only exception to this is if you pay between March 17 - 25th while my GF and I are both out of town. Then the item will not ship until the 27th or 28th barring grounded flights, etc.

Hi Brandon.

Yes it is great for the HVX. The flowpod is rated for up to 9 lbs and the vest is rated for cameras up to seven. The HVX is 5.2 lbs, so even with a 5600 battery you will be golden. Also as I mentioned in the above posts, Sam (Curugon) said he barely put it down during shooting The Ore, which as you know was shot on HVX.

As for the difference, in price, as stated one is a "demo only" and has barely been used. Only tested lightly for Barry_S's review.

In fact it will ship directly from Barry, as I have never taken possession of it.

The other is "used". It's never been out of my apartment where I've practiced balancing it and flying it, but the foam grip is ripped. You have to peel the foam back to expose a groove in the handle to dock it so you can balance it. I forced it and it ripped the foam a bit. I'm sure you could replace this for 20 bucks or so. But it is actually easier to dock it with the rip there and I have a piece of velcro wrapped around the handle there to keep it from tearing further.

But to give you a short answer, they are identical in features and functionality and both in excellent condition. Mine will look slightly used with a ding or two here or there in addition to the ripped grip. Barry's will look more new like a showroom model. So one has "used" wear and tear and one is "like new". Given that it's easier to dock and you could replace the foam if it bothered you and still be $50 to $90 ahead, I would go for the $700 one personally. Like I said all the machine parts are perfect.

I should take a picture of that grip but I just got worn out. This took like a day just to put on line, not to mention organizing and making sure I had all the parts etc.

Thanks for the reply man! The show I'm shooting next won't require an eleborate steady rig setup like that, but I'd sure like it! I'll see what I can do.

hrmmmm...any way to mod the flowpod to hold an M2'ed HVX? Im going to need a couple of these

Maybe if you got a lighter rail setup. My DVX/M2 rig with just a 50mm lens on it tips over 11 lbs. Not counting a monitor, either. Sure would love one of these to work, too. Heavier springs?

Maybe. My HVX is with letus and lens is about 8 lbs.
Fine for the flowpod (rated for 9 lbs). Too heavy for the vest (rated for 7lb cameras)
If the HVX is 11 lbs with all of that then it is too heavy for a glidecam 4k even which is rated for 10lbs so you might be able to get away with it if you use a lighter battery or even just get away with the extra weight, but would be ok for the smooth shooter vest which is rated for a combined weight of sled and cam up to 18lbs.

But everyone I say I want to use a 35mm adaptor with a stabilizer says I am crazy. But you could soften the background by stopping down to f4 or so on the 35mm lens (so the DOF is not crazy shallow) and then keep a fairly consistent distance for a walk and talk for example.

but there will be no way to pull focus using a 35mm adatpor and any stabilizer unless you buy a 3k remote focus device.

I have pulled focus using an assistant with a fig rig, but a fig rig is not flying i.e. balancing on a fluid gimbal. So pulling focus would make the camera move.

You could use a 35mm lens set to infinite.

but if it is 11lbs then it's to heavy for any sled in 500 - 1k price range I think.
