I think it's going to be more like a separate category competition for all the other cam owners. Sort of like "Best Foreign Film" which I think will be pretty righteous on its own. It would seem that the Canon folks are the ones most chompin' at the bit for this, but hopefully there will be plenty of talented folks "representin'" with their chosen weapon. Man, look at Batutta's 'Black Mantis' shot on the FX1. That shows it's definitely more the Indian than the arrow.

I like that film stock analogy, Kholi. That's the way I look at it too.

Yesss. I would love to have an entry, myself, where I could use the A1 and the HVX on the same shoot, or even just an A1 entry.

S'why I'm excited about that lil ol' HV20 24p camera. I'll get to have two flavors to choose from.
 
btw, I'm thinking the bandwidth co-op is going to need to expand for this fest. How is this going to be handled? I would like to help if possible.

When the time comes, we will ask for donations of hosting space if it necesarry.

I dont think its too much to require a few bucks (the price of a Mini DV tape) for entry to pay for hosting. Especially considering the price of the cameras used to shoot the shorts, there shouldnt be an excuse for not having the pocket change.

I couldnt possibly imagine someone objecting in the slightest

Just my 2 cents...




you can keep the 2 cents for hosting btw.
 
Wrong Barry to ask. Edit: Aside from that, i think they're going to give the D-fest winners a chance to bask a bit before we drag em off stage.
