Anyone get their free P2 card yet?

on the misleading list I also want to add the elusive to practically non-existent note to mail in the invoice, I mean, I DID NOT see it, and I was paying attention to get it right too! Where along the process do they claim to have said that? I knot it's probably been pointed out, but I'm not looking for that answer right now, as I am already screwed... if anyone cares to mention it again then thank you for fulfilling my curiosity

USLatinContent, I guess it depends on when you submitted your request. I submitted my request on 01/05/07 and on the webpage after I hit submit it said to send in the invoice. I sent my invoice via certified mail for an extra 3 bucks. That way I would know when they got it and who signed for it. I know not everyone did that and, honestly, it should not be necessary but I have had trouble with rebates in the past and that is one way to protect yourself.

In anycase, I would be pissed too if I had to resend an invoice and know that it was not my fault and I would have to wait longer to get something that is rightfully mine. I hope everything works out for you.

Here's a question, it seems like whenever there's a problem, there is a room for a capitalizing entrepreneur to step forward and make a little money and appease a handful of people.

Is there any accounting in the invoice whatever process to prevent this:

An individual with money on their hand purchases a P2 card, and ships it to a rebater for $100, in exchange for the invoice and the right to submit said invoice.

That way, in exchange for the time it would take to ensure a lack of fraud (3 way call the authorized reseller and the rebater), an agreement faxed and/or notarized, and the patience to wait 2-3 months for the card, they make $100, and the rebater gets their P2 card within days of ordering, not months, saving more than that in rental fees.

Is this unethical or impractical or just obvious and overlooked?

Don't really want to read 11 pages to get the information that might not be inside, but where can I get this rebate for the card?

I'd like a free card :)

Hi Brandon,

If you purchased a US Authorized product between the dates of October 1, 2006 and March 31, 2007, and are a resident of the US, then you qualify.

Go to the HVX200 website and click through the special offers link.

Best,

Jan

Just to add to the reports -- I bought my camera on Dec. 29th from Spec-Comm. Received it on Wednesday, Jan 3rd. I filled out the rebate form online the next day, but didn't bother to mail in the invoice until around Jan 12th.

I got my book and P2 card today, Feb 12th. That's less than a month turnaround time, if you figure it would take a couple of days for them to get the invoice once I dropped it in the mail.

I'm quite pleased. I fully expected not to get my card until mid-March.

I sent a letter to the rebate center after I was informed it takes them four weeks just to receive an invoice and I was told that now they are out of stock - and in 4-6 weeks my card will go out. Anyone else think that 'we're out of stock' is a lie to stall for more time? I've kept up with this thread and they keep saying they are out, but SOME people are getting cards...hmmmph.

Holy smokes, didn't know it was an 8gb card.

But I'm from Canada :(

Any way I can have it shipped to my family in Vegas? Probably just wishfull thinking :(

Jan,

When I saw your post here on the 11th page I looked for your Avatar through this thread. I hadn't read it in it's entirety because I thought that it would only anger me without changing my situation.
I love Panasonic, P2 technology and the HVX-200. Also, I love your involvement with DVXuser.com, especially though the development stage of the HVX. Getting Barry and Jarred involved, among others I am sure, is also one of the reasons why I feel so strongly about the PRO-Prosumer products that Panasonic rules the Prosumer segment with. I feel terrible about your loss and though I only feel as if I knew you, without ever truly meeting you, I politely offer my condolences to you.
I understand the difficulties that Panasonic's P2 supply might be facing by trying to time the spike in the demand for a technology many of us know will succeed but still too few already invested into. Also, I think I read that this rebate program was outsourced which means Panasonic is at least not directly responsible for its success. However, I feel cheated by Panasonic. I will never speak badly of Panasonic, or at least it would take much more than just this to change my mind. But it doesn't change that I feel cheated now. Thank you for everything you do for us Jan! I bet that if you were at the helm of this program things would be completely different, but there is only one Jan and you do enough for us already.
Is doing anything for the customers with the delayed cards and books being considered?

OK, I have been working on getting a resolution to my own rebate problem and perhaps finding out how the rest of us can be accommodated in a timely fashion as well.

So far, I've gotten the runaround from ACB. I actually reached a live person at 8am CT yesterday, but had to wait while she sat and chatted with her friends. (She simply put the phone down and I heard her laughing and going on, and I timed it at 4-1/2 minutes). Then, she came back, asked me for my info, and told me that they had not received my invoice. Unfortunately, my phone died while I was on hold, and I was unable to reach anyone when calling back, no one answered and all the mailboxes were full, so I was unable to complete the call yesterday.

Today, I reached a woman named Leslie or Wesley (couldn't tell, she said it too fast) in the Panasonic rebate department, who told me that they "probably had received my invoice, but it hadn't been scanned in yet", and the 4 to 6 weeks wouldn't start until some indeterminate point at which they decided to scan in the invoice. I told her others had called (including myself) and been told that their invoices had been lost or never received, and she said that wasn't possible, that no one would have said that, and that they would eventually be scanned in.

I told her this was unacceptable, and I needed to speak with someone who could help me resolve this problem. She hung up on me, then refused to answer the phone when I called back.

I subsequently reached the receptionist, and was given the name of Michelle (no last name) as the supervisor of that department. Unsurprisingly, Michelle was also not answering her phone, so I got the name of *her* boss, Cindy Henry, who is apparently the account manager for Panasonic. Cindy was still out of the office after a 5 day weekend (according to her voicemail), but I left a detailed message. I'd be delighted to receive a call back, but I'm not hopeful. This (ACB) does not sound like an organization that gives a damn.

No offense to Jan, and no blame either. I realize you have the additional audit issues to deal with, not to mention being overwhelmed with your personal loss. But from my (admittedly ignorant) position, it looks like an ACB problem when they are claiming it takes 4 weeks for them to receive and scan an invoice, and the 6 weeks starts from then. That is NOT what any of us agreed to when purchasing the camera, and the value of the rebate will decrease substantially if Panasonic manages to drag it out past the release of the 16gb card, thereby putting the HVX buyers in a position of not getting the value they were led to believe they would have.

I very strongly suggest that, assuming there's no resolution from Cindy, each of us who are still waiting for their rebates give formal notice to ACB and to Panasonic that, under the terms of the rebate, upon which we relied in making the decision to purchase the camera, that we expect to receive our promised rebates in the timeframe stated by Panasonic (not 6 weeks after some arbitrary "processing" date), and provide a reasonable time (say 14 days from the date of notice) to perform.

If there's no response, I would suggest that a bunch of us who are waiting each individually file a small claims action against Panasonic and against ACB. Panasonic and ACB will not want to send people around to a bunch of different municipal small claims courts across the country to defend these cases, and so, most likely, as soon as they are served, the "lost" invoices will magically reappear, everyone's P2 cards will magically start showing up, amd most likely, whomever is creating the bottleneck in the process will either get with the program or get fired.

It sucks that it takes something like this to get action, but in this day and age of corporate nonchalance, it's often the only way to solve the problem. (A class action lawsuit could also be done, but all that does is rip off Panasonic and make the lawyers rich and give each member of the lawsuit class a coupon for 5 bucks off of a DVX-100 purchase or some other unusable offer. The distributed small claims idea will get someone's attention in an annoying way and get the problem solved quickly and cheaply.

If Jan or anyone from Panasonic wants to step in and actually fix the problem (or tell me who to contact to get this problem fixed and I will do it) that would be the best of all possible solutions, simple and satisfying for everyone.

I am not sure which office of ACB the Panasonic call center is in, but I think it's Memphis, because I was told it was in central time, and that is the only office in that timezone.

Memphis ACB office: 1-901-346-9941
Panasonic account manager: Cindy Henry
Panasonic rebate "department supervisor" : Michelle

PM me if you have any suggestions/comments/info, and I will post as soon as I hear something more from ACB.

As a first step before small claims court, I would recommend filing a complaint with your state Attorney General as well as the Better Business Bureau. Make sure to indicate that this is a $1100 or rebate. It seems that you have written a clear description of the issue above.

Also file a complaint with the Tennessee Attorney General:
http://www.tennessee.gov/consumer/ccp.html regarding ACB company

And the New Jersey Attorney General regarding Panasonic:
http://www.nj.gov/oag/ca/ocp/ocpform.htm

Quick, free and effective according to consumer advocates....

Well - I finally got my 8gb card. It took 9 weeks. I applied on-line for the rebate on 12-6-06 and received the card today on 2-13-07. Also got the Barry Green book.

Thank you.

Mike

You Know, I don't like whining and was not happy with those that were, but maybe a venting session would be good for me now that it is getting under my skin.

After sending in the first round, I was told that rebate handler was replaced.
A few PM's later...
Again I sent in the request along with my original invoice. Still nothing.
I am getting a little frustrated how much of my time I'm having to spend on this.

To be honest, I'm not sure when, but I know I sent it in weeeellllll before the Holidays, more likely before Thanksgiving.

 I mentioned that I had already purchased the book and understood the personal and business issues going on. I mentioned this wasn't "critical" and I'd be patient.
But for God sakes, from what I'm hearing, I'd fire yet another rebate handling company and JUST GITTER DONE! Now I'm putting some of the blame on Panasonic.

Well, I don't feel that much better but since this is my first "Panasonic ticked me off" post, I guess others can say I'm balanced and not just an "I love Panasonic" person. :)

Hi Ted,

Since you didn't give me enough time to check and see what happened with you last message, I am now going to have to post my reply here. We did send out the book, UPS says they did indeed deliver it. Where it is I won't know until they do a final trace on it which will take a week. I am sending out another book now.

Thanks,

Jan

.

The problem with this post is that there is no information as to who you are, so I am at a loss as to how to help. If you will post your name and address I will forward to the folks at ACB. They do have the database and they should be able to look it up.

Thanks,

Jan

If this is your reason for purchasing the camera, then you will never get the value you believed you would. Technology is always improving and the price of storage decreases continuously. When released, the camera was $5995 and when 8gb cards first hit the market they were $2200! This is all in the last 12 months. Do you think the people that purchased then do not now have the value they were "led to believe they would have"? The value is in the work you do with the camera and the return on the investment.
