What's all this spyfest talk about?

I honestly am kind of sad that it didnt turn out to be comedy fest...Spyfest just seems like we'll get way to many films that are alot like the dramafest entries...just with spies.

ARG! I hope it's open to us Canon fellas. I'm a Panny dude in the heart so I can't be shut out right? lol

Dboz, wtf, I almost choked, you don't own a DVX yet dude?

You missed the post on SPy Comedies apparently ?

Don't let a genre theme hold you back.

What if it was comdeies and someone gave you a comedy about spies ?

Get it ?

I'd be more concerned with telling a coherent six minute story. I'm actually convinced that if anyone can tell a ROCK SOLID story, with ROCK SOLID execution, I won't care if it's a Bourney copy, Bond Copy, etc.

You'll have my vote.

Coffee..I'm out of work...SAT just killed me (taking it again in the spring. I cant begin to tell you how thrilled I am)...ACT is coming soon...homework takes up my social life. No time for work..

I LOVE HIGH SCHOOL!! ...

I'll take it one step further...for all you guys that wanted to do a western let us not forget, Wild Wild West (the TV show not that piece of CRAP that passed for a movie...)

I'm going to try and get this one in on time. My horrorfest entry just got done, even though it wasn't every really completed.

I think the Spyfest will be tough, but if it isn't easy it's not really worth it, right?

I'm thinking comedy Spyfest would be fun. Can I post two entries? Hey....l can dream, right? I guess I should start with one first. :)

I couldn't agree more. The six minute TRT limit is a really big challenge for most (myself included). I have worked on commercials where there were more stop watches ticking away than you see at a track meet. I prefer to have more time to get a story told, but there are some who are really good at this, it just isn't a skill that I have gained.

I would think that the time limit is part of what really makes us rise or fall to a different level. Working more free form leads many, very talented artists , to self destruction. seems to be a fairly general rule.... no boundaries aren't always a good thing.

6 minutes sucks....and I love it. :)

insanity. Aren't you getting a RED? You're gonna be in the RedUser fest, not the dvxuser fest :)

I hope I'm getting a RED. My wife says I have to make more money first. :)

In all seriousness, RED could be a sticking point. I've got my old house, a new house I'm buying, a property that is just sitting there and a 2nd baby on the way. I'm not sure how I'm going to handle all of this and a RED and put together a decent entry for SpyFEst, but I'm going to try like hell. If I get to buy my REd and enter the Spyfest at the same time, it's going to be a major accomplishment..one for the record books, I think. :)

I'll also be shooting on the HVX for Spyfest. Maybe. :)

Pray for me. :) I'm going to need it.

EDIT: Plus, I've got to get the RED, because I told Timur he could use it. I might get my ass kicked if I back out now. :)

I agree with this, Kevin. I feel very comfortable in the 80-130 page time frame. I've got an idea how to do a short and one of these days I'll test it. Everyone has their comfort zone and for me, unfortunately, at this time shorts aren't it.

That's about the most succinct definition I've heard yet for SpyFest! Aptly put, Barry! THANK YOU! And thank goodness . . . I'M DEFINITELY IN on this one, and I DEFINITELY "fit" the genre for once (thanks to your definition), and I ACTUALLY have some sort of a script this time . . . and for those of you playing along at home, that's a FIRST for me! WOO HOO!

Ralph, your images themselves are enough to excite. If you've got a script this time I think everyone needs to stand back...:cheesy:
