I'm sure this question as been asked a lot of times. i have the hdr-fx1 from sony and i'm selling it to go for Canon xl2 or dvx100b. dvx is the king of king i heard but what about canon? i want the best film look and the 16x9. i know pana.. have a squeeze 16x9 but can it do the job? i heard canon camcorder always broke. my sony dosen't have the film look . yeah it'S look great but it'S too video, i don't have xlr . i don't know if i put a 35mm adapter it's gonna fix the video look. i need your help

I know allot of people will get upset with what i am about to say but what i can tell u is stop worrying about what camera you have and just create! The FX1 is a perfectly fine camera.....a camera is a tool its the person operating it that makes the magic honestly. O and i have owned a DVX and now own a XL2 if that gives u any hint on which i like better ;).

I own a regular Panasonic DVX and I still find it better than the Sony FX1. The FX1 does the job on the HD aspect but I'm a sucker for 24p. I haven't had the chance to test out a Canon XL2. This article, which you can find on this site, compares all three camcorders. Hope this helps!

EDIT: Oh, it compares the DVX100a not b.

Xl2 is great but you need the 16X manual lens. Screw the stock glass. it takes a nice picture but the controls are crap.

Also on the XL2, make sure you turn down the sharpness a little bit, to get rid of the edge enhancement. then select the film like gamma function. IT will look great. BUT, if youre gonna spend 4,000 on a camera, why not buy the CAnon A1, or the HVX 200, and use it in SD mode until you can save up for the P2 cards. it will be future proof. DV now, HD later.

Does A1 have a SD mode?

Does A1 have a SD mode?

Hi Timur,

You (actually your posts and Catrina footage) :) already convinced me to switch me from letus35 to Sgpro- rev adapter, now i am slowly getting convinced that i should buy the A1 instead of dvx-100b!!

Could you please give me some more precise logic for me to do so?

My main purpose for the camera would be make small fictions primarily for
TV inone of those third-world pal-land (that's where i am from and that's
where i am planning to move back after living 20 yrs in the U.S).
hanks in advance.
