Okay... i've seen most of you posting information on your upcoming film for the Drama-Fest, so i have decided to provide some information on my film also.

I decided last week to try my skill for the Drama-Fest, which is when i wrote the screenplay, cast actors, rehearsed, and filmed. It's exciting that everyone has really worked a lot of hours and put in a lot of efforts to make your film. Considering that... mine is way back in the line.

Now that the Drama-Fest is here... may the best made film win.

Hello and welcome! Good luck to you.

Wow! Just last week you started? Well... better late than never! Seriously!

I like your banner, kinda reminds me of old computer displays, it's just not black with green text. Mine would have the added line of:

Compression: Forever+1

I'll check this one out for sure.

Thanks for the tip. Yours is a good banner also. Looks like everyone has put in some effort. What did u use to create the banner?
I'll watch ur film too.

Hey there, I noticed that you are a one man crew! Good for you. I did the same on horrorfest. One man show with $0 spent!

Good luck to you.

And your banner is a flashback of the old days when I used to work on a TRS-80 and the Vic 20!

givemefood,

Clean out your pm box, so I can send you a pm regarding your query.

You're film is on the list now as well.

Thanks,
Jason

My impressions of UNREQUITED:

i'm not going to go into what the weaknesses are. i think those are apparent. what really impressed me was the handheld camerawork. it let me engage it in a way that more traditional shots wouldn't have. i was able to access "the moment", where i was briefly not sitting in my living room watching this on my laptop, rather i was completely attentive to the characters' suffering. nicely done.

REVIEW: UNREQUITED

I'm dizzy. Another interesting set o'visuals.

I almost thought I'd have trouble with thinking of this as a story and not another drama aimed to question: how do you feel about the mentally challenged? And, if it wasn't for the key scene here, the forced kiss, then I wouldn't have any idea what you were trying to convey.

I think the focal point could've benefited from spending much more time delving into what happens just before that point, and then afterward. I actually wanted to know what this guy went off and did after he had his feelings shattered. Did she redeem herself? Did he redeem himself?

Up until then, I honestly didn't care about him or her. Sounds bad, I suppose, but him running in a circle forever was pretty much the only thing that would've kept me watching.

Going off of that: you had an interesting approach to the subject matter. Following him around like that must've had you off kilter after a while!

The sound was a bit echoy, but we've experienced that so much that I think that you know what I'm talking about.

Pretty neat approach to the subject matter, could've benefited from really digging into both characters and offering us a resolve to the problem instead of leaving us hanging.

That's just me, though!

Thanks for exhibiting duuude.

Thanks for viewing the film and thanks for ur response.
It's not a complete film. The full version is about 9 mins and 20 secs

i constructed this film to bring out the story more than the characters themselves, which is why one can't tell anything about each of them.
The submitted version for Drama-fest isnt the full film... There's another version thats about 9mins and 20 secs. If you watch that... you'll see a resolution to the whole thing.
Filmmaking is a very interesting medium... there is not one correct way of doing it. But i appreciate ur perspective and ur response.
Thanks for taking the time to watch it.

I couldn't understand what the girl was saying, ie voice to low, the storyline is only too true. I'd like to see the fuller length version though.
Thank you.

This one didn't work for me for a number of reasons:

Music - hits you over the head

Editing - not seamless, the first shot for instance felt like they should've been entering the frame on the edit into the wide of the bench, not a second after. The cuts between the circular running and the closeups on her didn't work for me, I shouldn't notice an edit and I did.

Shots - same sort of thing here, I noticed the shots instead of them complimenting the story. The exception was the flashback scene which was much more involving.

Performances - Pushy acting, I really felt like she was trying to cry instead of trying not to cry but it happening anyway.

I liked the handheld shaky camera work. Without it I think the film doesn't work. Erica are shaky emotionally and at the end shakes up the mentally challenged guy...so it all fits!
