We got a very late start. Anyways, we gave it a go with a week's notice. Learned a lot, had a good time

There were some complications at the end with compression, not entirely happy with the video as there is some bad scan lines that are pronounced :(

Our short is about a warehouse janitor, and the mundane that is his job.

Welcome and congratulations for completing it. I am looking forward to seeing your movie.

a week's notice? thats impressive... I know some other member started to work close to the deadline.

The image you have going on there is cool. is that wine? I love wine

Wow, that is a late start. We had a hell of time with compression too. A few we did we would get random green hued shots and stutters with motion... it felt like it was the hardest part of this whole process.

Good luck the competition.

Thanks, your thread was the one I showed my partner. We just sat in awe at all the storyboarding and pre-production that went into yours :D I can't wait to see it!

I wish it was wine, no those are pipes!
Pipes? Does he drink pipes? Just kidding. HU? I am intrigued now.

I was getting those green artifacts as well. I fixed it my making a QuickTime movie out FCP then using Qtime pro I exported it with the appropriate settings.

that is some sexy lighting
I have a redrock adapter but opted not to use it because the warehouse is so dark and moody already, I didn't want to wrestle with the light loss...

The warehouse itself is quite the location. It has these awesome skylights that give a great vignetting effect if I shoot my subjects directly under it :)

Sounds like a great location. I can't wait to see some shots!

ouch. there's a lot of interlacing going on.

ouch. a whole lot. it's extremely distracting.

very cool overhead shot of him emptying the trash can.

and i like the dolly shot of him walking through the warehouse.

it's too dark. i can barely make out anything.

wait a sec. so they have him sweep the floor with the lights off? what, for energy conservation purposes? strange.

the short was 4 minutes too long in my opinion.

Wow, I actually like this piece a lot. It was cool to watch, for some reason. The use of real sound was very cool, the whole thing was just bizarrely watchable. I enjoyed it. My only criticism is that it isn't a drama.

this is one of my favorites actually. definitely technical issues, but good nonetheless. tsai ming liang anyone?

This one seems really run and gun. I guess thematically you were lookin’ at the same kind of everyday rhythms that 18 was going for (without the masturbation) but IMHO, a wider array of montage might have been more suitable.

I can't believe I watched the whole thing.

I don't see the drama here. There was no story. It was a loose concoction of run and gun shots. Two, in particular were distracting as the shouted out "LOOK AT ME". One was around the 1:16 point when you used an unmotivated rackover, "this is a cool rackover shot," and the other one was the "James Bond" shot at about the 5:01 point.

It looks like you had some serious technical issue which also made it hard to watch.

You might want to use a different angle when he opens the door in the beginning as the moire is very distracting. When he opens the big door at the end, you might also want to correct for the proper color temp.

You did go out and do something, you just didn't give us a reason to watch.
