The Dude Abides
Night has fallen at Chateau D. The mole people are stirring and seem more lively than usual. I am learning much of their indigenous behavior after living among them this long. They have finally come to accept me and no longer scuttle away as I approach. In fact, some of them allow me to touch them. Just not any of the females. ... I have given them names per their behaviors. There is Slackjaw - one of the dominant males who sleeps where he wishes, and pushes the smaller males aside as is his wont. I call one of the females Slut, due to her coquettish antics and displays. Babywipes is a laconic somewhat paranoid male who cowers when loud noises occur. I have named a lanky tall one Drunkman for behaviors you may guess.
It has been interesting to observe how Tim fits into this unstable molecule that is Chateau D. Some of the mole people worship him as a God while others curse him behind his back and make threatening gestures when he takes their food. This is his domain and he operates partly as zookeeper and partly as trainer. The other day some of the mole people were puzzling over how to open a large beverage cooler. It sits on the lawn still ... unopened. Tim has commented that he intends to teach them how to open it when he learns its secrets.
As it is Friday it appears the mole people have a religious observance of sorts. They have convened on cushions and broken furniture before a large flatscreen and they make gutteral sounds as various animated images play before them. I suspect that some mating is going on beneath the oversized blankets and vermin-ridden furniture pads, but I dare not look. Tonight I shall attempt to communicate further with them by changing channels to Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
