Hello all,

this is my first post and i would like to start off by giving a giant thanks to everyone here for the tremendous amount of help i have garnered from all of your posts. this site has been absolutely amazing in so many different ways. i have learned so much. that said, i have so very much more to learn. i waited to officially join until i had something to present to you all.

well, happily, i was successful in making a film for dramafest....

edit- i wanted to add a poster, gotta try and put some buzz into it, right?

i used a dvx100a, a film tools car mount ( the thing rocked!) , the help of a best friend, christine cirillo, the support of my wife who married a full blown lunatic, and vegas 6 ( i love vegas! ) .

i am extremely psyched to see all the other films in the festival and i am really looking forward for all feedback whether it be good/ bad/ or hopefully not too indifferent.

hopefully you will find it fun...

hoz!

and thank you to jason Ramsey and larry R for contacting me and helping me enter my film!

thanks guys, cant wait to see all of your films either. this is way cool.

Looks interesting. Is there going to be some After Effects "cloning" in this one... looks like the same guy on either side of the poster.

Hey, if that's one actor, fun times. I'm sure you meant for us all to see the "twist" a mile away.

Neat!

kholi, yeah, it was one actor, me, it was rather odd to act with the invisible man, but i came up with this idea and figured i'd go ahead with it. my friend christine drove me around her neighborhood while i acted out the script. obviously we had to wait for the streets to be deserted before i could pull out the fake gun. even in jan in new york that wasnt that easy, it seemed like people knew i wanted them to be inside, so they went outside...wtf. it wasnt until after i was two thirds through when i wondered to myself, what the HELL am i doing?
still, i had a lot of fun.

that being said, i would really appreciate anyone else's review, please dont worry if it is negative, i myself think i undershot the drama quotient of the contest. i wanted to keep my dialogue fresh and funny and get at a bit of drama that way, but... maybe i missed? i was psyched to send off my submission here because i really wanted to hear what you guys might think of some of my work. so thank you for anything you might want to share!

thanks kholi for replying!

the acting feels very staged at the beginning, but once they get going i buy their lines.

3 minutes into this i can definitely see how these are two different characters. good acting here.

??? when she opens the door and we hear that cheesy elevator music it feels like my media player got kidnapped by some other short. completely different feel.

i don't like the ending, makes no sense to me. but the car dialogue is pretty good, well delivered lines.

hmm, i wasn't impressed with the acting on this one, it was too hesitant, didn't really understand it until the very end, although I'm still mystified as to the film i watched previously (still don't know where I can find the thread for it) so maybe should've left this til later on today.
Thank you.

I feel as though I've watched too many in one 'sitting'.
Still have 15 to watch :oO Goodnight!

Another comedy ?

Hehe, sneaky.
I liked one of the brothers acting, the other one sucked like Jenna Jameson.(kidding) I love the spirit of grabbing a camera and just doing something. But the lack of crew (even just one Dp and sound guy) and production value showed. I was still entertained, and found the flick funny, though.

Just briefly, i'd look at camera settings, clipping the whites, and exposure. i'm sure this will be a great experience.

Newyawk accents?cool

thanks much for the comments, yeah, one of us brothers didnt do such a good job acting, won't tell you which one showed up late either, ha. as to having a crew, wish i could find one, i dont know anyone.

anyone want to work with me?

i kept the whites overexposed to make it look a bit more edgy, that and since i was shooting alone in the car i didnt get a chance to play around with the settings as much as i would like to have. it was a lot of fun to do though.

i also agree now while looking back at it, the music sucked. i got if off twisted tracks, 48 bucks worth, after they gave me fifty bucks free to sign up.

i am redoing this little movie, is it okay if i can post here on the board for another view, for comments only?

i love to write and i feel as though i got a bunch of really cool ideas worthy of filming, i hope with the right amount of practice and help ( if anyone here wants to work with me? ) i can make a really great film. currently i have a full length movie 2/5 done.

thanks so much always for giving me your time, hoz

you know I couldn't act and operate a camera by myself ..mostly because a can't act and I'm still not sure what all those damn buttons do! YIKES :)

I think if you had an actor or a camera man it might have turned out a bit better, but it was not bad . I thought the acting was ok and as for the overexposed white I actually thought you did it on purpose and thought it fit the mood.. nice job:) Make another:)

lets see, as for music. There are just to many ways I think to get some free stuff especially for low to no budget movies I use local bands(who usually say HELL YES). Free advertising or I contact some creative commons artist and so far, free to use. Very nice of them:) Type creative commons into google and watch the magic. also there are composers right here in are own commuity :)

Getting a crew= Food and Beer :)

Hey Hoz, I just watched your film. It was one of the very last ones I saw. I really really liked it. It is one of my favorites in the fest. I thought your acting was great. The writing I also thought was great. It might have been a fairly simple prodution compared to many other films in the fest but it was wonderfully entertaining and a creative one man show. Keep it up Hoz. And thanks for a great film. Have you made any other films?
