How do you get this effect on video? kinda like burnt film?

In the beginning it shows what im talking about. I want to do some of those in transitions of clips.. If anyone can help me out.. it would be greatly appreciated =)

Not exactly the same thing, and requires After Effects (7.0+), but here's something you could try.

It could also been done with 3dsmax. Set your video to the enviroment map background. Then animate a series of photo-shopped gradient maps over that . Animate...as in position and opacity of the grad maps.
