Hi everybody. I want to share with all of you a trailer for my feature animated film, that I'm working for a long time now. This is a no budget project with me as a single animator and couple of American actors, including one member of this site, Brad Bromelmeier, which helped me a lot. I'm located in Croatia and I needed English voices, so Brad found a couple of actors and he send me huge amount of lines over the internet.

The film will be about 60 minutes long, it's a complete 3D done in 3D Studio Max, on Intel Celeron Tualatin 1.6 GhZ, 512 MB RAM, ATI Radeon 9600. I'm planning to compete on some festivals and to set up some kind of distribution.

Please, comment it freely.

Not bad at all! Interesting style, although i can't help thinking that everything looks incomplete due to the style of the characters. But i have to say, considering the constraints you had to work with, its pretty darn good! Very visionary

I liked the style! The only thing I would look into would be some of the land textures. Some of these textures look a bit muddy to me. Then again, that could very well be the compression!

I agree that the animation style is very interesting.

I do have to comment though - but I was slightly confused as to what the story was about.

Lots of nice visuals and landscapes and even moments of action, but no real content for me.

The audio mix was tough at times - often favouring the rock music (which I like) over the dialogue.

I really dug this!!!

It started out as sort of a Scanner Darkly feel, then it became a combo of Lego and The Sims in all out war and carnage.

The characters not having faces is brilliant. On the surface it just seems kinda cool... but in the post production sense, you don't need to match talking to mouth movement so your dialogue possibilities are endless. You can potentially reshape your story through dialogue whenever you want.

I'll agree that the mix seems rough. The opening monologue was good - and was cool how it synced with control, but the whispering voice wasn't overly strong, and i'd look to redo that with either a better recording or a better voice to give it a stronger pulse.

overall though it was great, sweeping camera moves were sweet... it almost felt like you made a movie out of storyboarding software. I hope this gets you attention!!

Thanx for all of your comments guys. I really appreciated.

About the music and sound issue: I did the whole trailer myself and I don't have almost any knowledge in sounds. So I think it went very well concerning my knowledge, but when will be editing the whole film, my friend who is a musician and knows a lot about the music will make a much better work. And it won't be that much loud heavy metal music in film so there won't be to silent voices. So these problems won't appear in final product.

About the simplified style: I won't gave up the story, but I can say that the film talks about mass control and manipulation of human race. So I wanted to present the characters like puppets or marionettes, which are pulled for their invisible strings by an invisible hand. They don't have faces cause they are like sheep in this world in which everyone make their knowledge from corrupted media and don't have their own personalities.

About not real content in trailer: as I said before the story has a catch so I really couldn't gave up the plot. So I wanted to make a viewer interested in film so he would be interested in seeing it.

I hope I cleared some issues.

Thanks again guys.

The Cash,

If nobody can understand the plot in the trailer, will they watch the movie? That's my concern with your project.

In the end, if someone likes this enough to purchase it, I'm sure they'll cut there own trailer for their own tastes anyway.

Well Pennypacker, I remember a lot of trailers in which I didn't really understand the plot, but I watched the film anyways cause it sounded interesting. I explained it to you, that it was difficult for me to explain the plot without revealing its secret, and then it wouldn't be so exciting. So I wanted to make a viewer wondering what is really happening in the film, cause for the half of the film the leading character is asking himself the same question. If you would know the answer from beggining of the film, it really wouldn't be any good to you I think. I hope you understand that more clearer now.

About someone making their own trailer, I think that they would ask me for my opinion about their version of trailer, cause director of film have all the rights for the film, you can't even make figures from main characters without his knowledge, so I don't think they will make their own trailer without asking me. After all, the director must supervise the making of trailer, to my knowledge.

I hope that you'll watch the film when it is over, so you will know why I didn't want to discover the plot.

Regards.
