hey guys here are some stills from a music video that I just directed, the budget was 0 dollars, yep thats right, I still cant believe we did this in a day and for zero dollars, we used a mini dv pana camera that a band member uses for vacations, give me a break a pv-dv53d, it doesnt even have 3ccd's, we used some home depot work lights(you can catch it in the last pic, look upper left) and some flourecent fixtures that some of the band members had laying around in their houses, the girl is a hooters model overhere in tx and the artist is also from tx, first pro bono work I have done, only reason for doing it is because the artist and me go way back, but I think it tured out all right, still have to color correct and edit the damn video

woopsss I think I put this thread on the wrong place, sorry guys but didnt know where to put it, its not hvx or dvx footage.......

Well i have to say the images look great in their small size, but blown up at full size the camera flaws are visible. If only you had your hands on a DVX or a HVX - it would have looked stellar! Your light looks great!

thanks man, its a mini dv panny pv-dv53d its like 50 bucks on ebay, yeah you can see the interlacing due to the 60i conversion to 24p but hey for zero budget I think it turned out ok, plus I was going to use my hvx but had it rented at the time so I had no camera and this video work poped up so I said hey screw it how bad can it be and then well it turned out ok

You certainly made the most of what you had, by all appearances, though I wouldn't mind seeing a motion clip.

you know what man, thats right its the damn lighting, if you mess up the lighting I think that even if you have the best camera on the world its gonna look crappy, and I still cannot belive I made this happen with a 50 dollar camera and well I am cutting the video right now in vegas and honestly its looking fu**ing awsome and I dont know why, it looks like bad super 16mm
now this got me thinking I cant get this look on my hvx I've tried and I could never get this look, anyone wanna tell me why? on the crappy camera that I used I didnt even use the white balance, it was on ATW and look, I mixed yellow lighitng with flourencet and it looks freking good, I sent the pic of the girl and the fuy when they kissing with him holding the leg and one of the producers of the artist thought it was a armani studio pic, that funny cosidering I had one 500w home depot work ligh pointed at them from down up and it looks so good acording to him, and he is the the photography business, so yeah I am pleased with this, I dont know how the hell it happpend, any imput???

the HVX has more Dynamic range, so its not looking as contrasty. Pupm the Masterped down to -11 / -12 , and then in post, boost the contrast even more. it will look amazing.

Very nice lighting. On an ipod or a cell phone you would never know that it was shot with that dinky camera. And I mean that as a compliment.

the artist and the model are happy, so screw it you know.. hey we made the best out of nothing, thats the way I see it

I am going to be posting a clip of the video so you can see it in motion and get some feedback, I wanna know what you guys think

yeah man, I was expecting bad 8mm lookin' footage or worst...... now I don't think I know what's worst then that!!

fukin good work brother!

It's ALL in the lighting! I can't get many people to see it that way, they want 35mm system, HD, better this and that on and on and on..

LIGHT IT and SHUT YOUR trap, I don't care WHAT cam you have! LOL
