--UPDATES BELOW--

Hey everyone,

Like many here, I've been an occasional poster when really in a jam but more than anything, I'm an avid reader. The fests in the past have always been impressive to me because of the professional nature of the work entered. So instead sitting of the sidelines again, I decided to drag myself, my friend (and business partner) and some wonderful friends into making a film for this go around. I've avoided posting about it until now because I wanted to be sure it was going to be done in time. It looks like we're gonna make it. So, without further ado, Brian Thesing and Finnian Riley present:

A film about being caught in the middle of your life.

We poured ourselves into this film. And in the end, lived every second of the tale it's telling. We hope you enjoy it next week!

**UPDATE** 1/31/07

I am happy to report that we have finished and uploaded our film! It really came down to the wire there for a bit, but I somehow plowed through to the end. To celebrate I'm going to post some more BTS shots, mostly because I want everyone who worked on this film to know we really couldn't have done it without them!!

Thanks again guys, I hope you enjoy it.

Brian chills between takes as James and I tweak.

Wow, another late entry. Welcome to the fest, and best of luck to you.

That looks like a pretty nice setup you have there.

Later,
Jason

What?!? No Concannon?

Just kidding guys. Congratulations on getting your entry done. I am looking forward to seeing it.

Well... with that said, I'm looking forward to seeing this.

And how would you define the 'middle' of one's life?

Wow, you guys are quick! Thanks for the words of support (even though I total didn't get the Concannon thing until I searched the name, funny!), and good luck to you guys and your entries too. I think this is going to be a really good fest.

It's more of a look at a period in someone's life rather than a generic time of life. In other words, it not about being "middle-aged". We're hoping to examine a common feeling about transitions that take place, but that's all I can really say for now. Hope that helps.

Sounds interesting. Looking forward to seeing your flick. Thank you.

Sweet poster. Is that a a grab or a still? What small monitor is that I see attached to your DVX?

It's a standard def 7" 16:9 Lilliput LCD which I can't recommend for anything other than using it as a way to operate while shooting with a 35mm adaptor without doing the magnet flip trick. I always have a CRT on hand to check my focus marks and light levels:

Once I move my own setup to Hi Def, the Lilliputs gonna have to go in the trash.

The poster is very cool, design wise. Sold me on watching the flick! Can't wait to see it. And on the techy side, what kind of audio gear did you use?

Thanks again for the encouragement guys!

Good point! As far as audio goes we used a standard Sennheiser shotgun mic with a Sound Devices mic pre-amp. I wish we would have sprung for wireless lavs, but our insurance wouldn't cover the additional rentals. The boom mic worked fine, it was just a real pain to get clean audio shooting some exteriors next to a busy street. Next time we'll have lavs, no matter what it costs.

hey hey! diggin' the poster and glad to see you'll rock it out in time. I hope you get everything nailed down in time and looking forward to seeing your entry.

Cheers!
