I have a friend who is now in the market to buy a camera,
he told me about this site where they had some real good prices.
They have the sone V1u for $2,699 I find this hard to believe.

The Canon XHA1 for $2,058 still hard for me to believe if this is true or not.The Panasonic AG-DVX100B FOR $1,499.00 I don't believe it.

Do anybody know anything about this site, and is it Legit

the site is called bestpricecameras.com

OK, look . . .

If you want to know if a place is legit and on the up-and-up . . .

Check to see if their price is similar to B&H. If it's more than 1-2% lower, no, it's probably not legit. If it's 5% or more lower, no way.

That's not to say that any place with prices in line with B&H is automatically legit, but it's a lot more likely.

it's about as legit as Satan offering you a bite from a nice red juicy apple.

jus check out how satisfied their customers are: http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Best_Price_Cameras_6

This one had me floored:

[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]
I ordered a Canon professional series lens and wanted overnight delivery.

2 business days later, a rep from the BestPriceCameras.com calls and first thing tries to get me to agree to the inferior Sigma lens. He told me it was just as good, actually better, for the camera I have (Canon Digital Rebel XTi).

I told him it isn't, said I wasn't interested and asked how long it would be until I got the lens I ordered.

He said 3 weeks.

I said that won't do and I want to cancel my order.

He said, "Fine, not a problem." - and hung up on me! No confirmation that the order has been canceled, not a goodbye, sorry we couldn't help you, and all that nice stuff a good company that wants to keep customers does.

I tried to call the number that my Caller ID said called - it was a bad number.

ROFL

Dude, he's just focussing in on the subject a little better.
See what kind of crowd you're hangin with?

When in doubt, just follow one simple rule:
are they an authorized dealer y/n?
if yes, consider the price legit.
if no, do not waste your time.
Its that simple.

Not to say that all non-authorized dealers are illegit. I'm sure there are grey market sellers that will be fair and decent to you. But, would you want to play the lottery to find which ones are, and do you want to pay around $3k or more for a cam with no warranty?

stick to the rule, you be fine.
and as David said, you can always compare to a seller with a known reputation such as B&H.

yeah it was sarcasm, doesnt turn out too well on the internet
get the DVX from www.buydig.com -- i researched a TON and that was the cheapest place, and it came quickly with everything in order

COSTCO.COM
same rebate and you can return it anytime and I mean 20 years from now for full refund so you never need a warrenty.....

The standard unauthorized dealer disclaimer goes something like this:

Just because a dealer isn't authorized doesn't mean that they're buying grey market cameras or otherwise trying to rip you off. The problem is, there's nothing keeping an unauthorized dealer from getting grey market cameras or otherwise trying to rip you off; whereas, with an authorized dealer, there is a contract in place between them and Panasonic that states in no uncertain terms that any Panasonic product they sell will be the real McCoy. So, with any unauthorized dealer, there's always the possibility that you could be getting a camera that won't be eligible for a warranty or any rebate; but that chance with an authorized dealer is effectively zero--and if it should somehow happen, that dealer is more than likely going to work with you to sort out the situation.

My dad bought a Sony 55" TV from buydig with no problems. The girl on the phone taking our order was really helpful too. I think we also bought a panny Gs-400 from there a while ago as well. Again no problems. They might not be authorized but from both experiences i've had, i would recommend them. theres my 2 cents.

The GS400 is a consumer cam, so it would under a completely different authorized dealer contract. They could easily be authorized for Consumer and not for Broadcast.
