This is a rough trailer thrown together after production finished. There will be an real trailer up shortly w/ website.

Undergraduate Final film . It is a throwback to old 50's Horror. I Co-wrote and DP'd this. DVX100a M2 Nikkon 24, 35, 50, 85. Love to hear any feedback!

The M2 was great to work with, it really allows for much more control over the image.

Enjoy!

Might have something to do with your choice of file host. What a pain in the **s. I don't want to watch anything this badly.

Sorry for the rant, but 24 minutes of download after jumping through a few timer / verification / quasi-registration hoops to watch a random sample is a bit much.

No, but the good news is that the file is still downloading...

: )

What about the Stickypod service? Is he still doing that? Oh, and I didn't realize this was your undergraduate final! Congrats on that - didn't mean to diminish a project of that magnitude as a "random sample".

Gotta slow down and read sometimes.

Cheers,

It wasn't that complicated to download the file, but it took me 20 minutes to download the high quality version! 97megs for a 1:30 video is crazy, you should compress it down some more.

The footage looked pretty nice, the DOF really adds a nice touch. For a horror film, I thought the lighting wasn't as dramatic as it should be, and the footage didn't seem like they were dark/contrasty enough. The audio sounded a bit weird, like there's no bass. Especially for the lightning/thunder, they sounded really "hollow." From the sound of the dialogue, it seems that you used the internal mic, which made everything sounded really flat. Maybe it's the compression? I think it would add to the atmosphere if the audio was a bit stronger/bass-ier. Overall, it didn't give me that eerie/mysterious feel that a scary movie should have. But you did say this was a rough trailer, so I'm sure you can fix these problems. Interested in seeing the final product!

holly **** that looks amazing! Congradulations on such a fantastic looking film!!!

Please share some lighting setups with us, any production stills? Plz say yes :)

Hey guys thanks for the feedback I'm glad some of you like it. As far as setups go there were A LOT. So I don't know how I would go about that. As a rule I shot everything I could slightly overlit and flat to get better latitude and needed additional wattage because we were going to black and white in post. As far as compositions go I tried to remain faithful to the period while letting in a little instinct : ) Here are some prod stills. If you guys have any more q's or a question on a specific setup I'd be happy to answer.
