My Tokyo angel - a SDC production

Yes, sure are shooting tomorrow. Hopefully that 1 meter bearing will arrive..... woops secret shhh.

Hi ncje, just cruising the threads for dramafest and came across My Tokyo Angel. Fantastic image for the poster. I skimmed all the posts and it sounds like you've encountered and overcome the standard sampling of obstacles the universe likes to throw in a film-maker's way. Best of luck with production and post, I'm looking foward to seeing your end product, especially after hearing about the evolution and dramatic energy of the screenplay.

The script was really a fun script to write. I usually do not like rewriting other people's work, but after having advised Noel on this script on a drafts, he allowed me to take a crack at it and I kept the locations, the general them, and added a whole lot of flavor.

This story transcends all cultures, the simple truth, to be accepted, to have approval. You'll love it.

I was just informed that Noel has to reshoot a scene, sort of a pivotal scene,
has to film it at another location. Can he pull it off? Let' wait and see...

Sorry gang starting to look doubtful if I can finish on time. With a heavy schedule plus wifes birthday Sunday, wedding anniversary Tuesday I may have to make the tough decision. I will finish this, but most likely if a few things dont pull together a few weeks into February.

EDIT just been offered a high paying shoot this Saturday night, and note that Sunday is expected to rain with possible snow - not crash hot to shoot exterior scenes in.

EDIT wanted to add I havent given up just yet, but we will see how things pan out. Yet my mind still wants to shoot this per the original script.

Noel - if you could shoot this per the original script, with that pivotal scene the
way it was written, I say go for it, drop out of this competition, let's then
think about entering the short in film festivals instead. It's a great story,
maybe it's not meant for this festival because of time constraints and
scheduling. Whatever you decide, but why settle for less?

More interesting surprises with this short film. Noel and I are in agreement
so I'll let him tell you guys what we're up to.

Still working out the kinks of this production, but I have decided, this is such a solid script, I am going to enter this puppy in a few short script contests and see what it does. Wish me luck.

Shooting again this weekend. Scene four in the next few weeks to wrap it up, once final is decided.

Charli, Charli, Charli. Only today did I do the dailies. I ran through a no frills cut just now - scene 4 missing of course. Let me first explain something to everyone. I have read this script over and over, storyboards, shot planning, more reading etc etc. So if anyone knows in fine detail whats happening where its me. Usually when your this glued to a project you fall away from any emotional aspect that is contained and concentrate on the technical. I have a few small errors but nothing of notice.

After all that and with one scene missing totally, and watching a shabby rough cut. Tears ran down my face in the last scene. Ill qualify that with, I watched The pursuit of happiness last week, and not a thing..... not even remotely close.

Great script Charli, great script. And I have to tell you - if theres some technical issues with the cinematography OK I can live with that, if theres some minor sound issue (first run its not bad) - I can live with that. I feel this is by far the best piece I have ever directed - admitedly I have good actors - but I think the performance is second to none.

So scene 4 to do and some pickups.
